I have 4 pages that define what I should do as the market develops. I follow them with only a tiny amount of discretion (a variable for daily character). From time to time I use a couple of functions in Sierra Chart to take over the entry in the stalking phase.
So I'm rule based with a smidgen of discretion. This contrasts with a friend who is clearly discretionary.
Systems trading for me implies that a program will run 80-100% of the trading. 15 years ago it was 100% but I've evolved a long way since then and may have an on/off switch based on human perception of context but I'm not sure of that.
Great question, great topic.
I have been doing something similar with a variety of Assets and have it all consolidated on a single interface. Since I couldn't find a solution that fit my needs, i decided to develop my own homegrown infra. My background is as a Java/C/C++ developer, however I decided to learn Python/React/Django/Bootstrap.
I have been backtesting some prototypes/strategies to automate trades of different asset classes:
Equities against Alpaca (alpaca.markets), Options against Tradier, Crypto against Coinbase (Alpaca now offers some limited Crypto), Forex against Oanda.
I'm trying to find a good REST-capable Futures infrastructure to play with. My understanding of futures investing is not yet where it needs to be, but I have planned to take some training on it in a few months.
I'm curious if you were able to find what you needed for futures trading. I'm really only looking for a REST-capable Futures trading infrastructure. I will do the rest myself. I saw something interesting on Binance, but I'm limited because of my location.
