The content of our mind is not our choice, it essentially accumulates what ever it comes across during our existence here (news, society etc ). Our thoughts are generated from what ever we have accumulated. It is just recycling your accumulated information in various permutations and combinations. I do not pay much importance to the thoughts itself. If any of your other organs start to behave like our mind, it wont be normal. Mind is a useful instrument , once you are able to use it and not let it use you.
Please dont confuse intuition with random thoughts. Passion and experience is at the core of intuition. Intention is another kind of thought again not the compulsive, unconscious ones.
do nothing meditation is not about nothingness. It is essentially just sitting and doing nothing - no thing. Dont try to control your thoughts or mind activity but just be in a state of relaxed awareness. I suggest you start with this blog and read more on relaxed awareness.
Fear is a feeling that get empowered every time we try to resist it or pay attention to it. As J Krishnamurti said "a resistance free mind is the only way to awaken the higher energy". It essentially means developing awareness to observe mind for what it is - Mind is like a garbage bin to put all the crap we accumulate during our existence, very useful device but not so good if one start to live inside it.
Totally agree,I figured out myself something similar. What I'm not ready to do yet is let those already existing info inside me to govern my thouhts.I think existing infos can be manipulated & new infos can be controlled.
I'll be sure to check that blog.I'm a little concerned if calming down mind comes with a price of reduced critical faculty.I'm much of a control freak-letting go of control isn't easy.
Though I believe I can talk myself out of almost any fear,I believe some fears are actually beneficial to how further one can go in career,so I preserve some of those.
I visited Randall Howell's site,it seems he has a new site up-sure will study & analyze him.
Calming the mind doesnt mean reducing critical faculty but infact enhancing it by reducing the chatter. It is like the steady hands of a surgeon, one may focus on the task with great attention.
Please note I have worked with Rande Howell but not recommending or promoting it by any means. You may find it useful as it is very close to what you are currently doing, connects your methodology with a well defined system of archetypes. For that his free book should suffice.
Adyashanti has some excellent videos and thoughts on all of this. You must really be 100% in the present and listen to what he is saying. This video is a good starting point:
Adyashanti piqued my interest,I was reading some articles in calmdownmind blog & he's also mentioned there.
I can't meditate for more than a few minutes at once, probably that's why I was always fascinated by monks.
I'll like to know about some introductory materials on Zen & Advaita to be better able to grasp deeper concepts there.
I've a concern that if I delve deeper into these, then I may lose my interest in trading/making money & focus more on solely awakening-to me it seems like what the escapist inside me shall want to do.
I want to know, how those already in these paths deal with such issues?
