Seeing the dollar amount on the Order flag kept me focused on money and not the trade. In NT I made it so that i don't see the dollar amounts of my trades while I am in the trade. I only see points. That helped me a lot.

Scientists have strong evidence that proves that the subconscious mind is thousands of times
stronger than the conscious mind. If you want results in your trading and your life, your focus
needs to be on the subconscious instead of purely on conscious effort. Beliefs and feelings
are the DNA of the subconscious. So to focus on the subconscious, you need to work with
feelings and beliefs, with the goal of changing unsupportive feelings and removing limiting
beliefs to replace them with empowering ones. However trying to do this with only motivation
and willpower will not work, because those are limited resources that wane quickly, and
because the feelings and beliefs are inherently self-perpetuating. i.e. They will fight to stay
alive and cause you to give up. Therefore, the real secret and key is to create a system that
quickly turns this new way of thinking and feeling into habit. Once habitualized, the change
sticks and you take direct control of the subconscious. And then everything changes. Your
goals and desires become virtually guaranteed and they happen much quicker, because now
you are using a much more powerful force to attain them. If, however, you continue working
only with your conscious mind while having limiting beliefs beneath the surface and regularly
experiencing unsupportive emotions, you will experience failure or very limited success. You
can have all the desire and motivation in the world, but your subconscious (which is
thousands of times more powerful than your conscious mind) will not let it happen.

Use of the word ‘control’ makes this process sound authoritative and dominating (thats ego). This is not so. You can only observe and understand the process. There is never a control element.

I agree with your conscious mind concept but don’t agree on ‘unsupportive emotions’. Its not good or bad emotion (you are associating it with failure) it is just whether it applies in the current context or not. Your job is to understand what the emotion is, why its there, and how you decide to respond (let it go or embrace it).

Trading the market is like a professional mma fighter. The athlete doesn’t go into a ring with a single strategy of throwing haymakers hoping for a knockout. He is patient and has learned (the hard way) how to block, duck, weave, bob, roll and observe his opponents strengths and weaknesses. He uses this information to strike when the opportunity presents itself. Most of the competition is preventative maintenance i.e not getting yourself knocked out (because you weren't watching) and then afterwards asking yourself why you didnt see the obvious at the time

Just after entering a trade I will re-evaluate it by going over my rules for trading once again. If all of the criteria are met then I am satisfied with whatever result comes about. At that point I switch over to managing the trade. When I started doing this, all anxiety just went away. It becomes purely logic driven at that point.

How long did it take me to get to this point? About 5 years. I am a slow learner. LOL!

Not to be flip, but this is the problem with all attempts to improve yourself.

You can, however, change what you do. Introspection and self-knowledge are great things, and are good for their own sakes and for what they open up for you, but action is what changes things.

I know, that's the problem, but doing something differently is the only way anything has ever changed. You can use any mental process, before, during and after, to convince yourself that you should or can, but doing something differently is what makes anything change.

You'll still be you, but hey, that's not really all that bad. And you'll be doing something new, which is not all that bad either.

Bob.
