What is strange, if you have two different PCs, producing the same problem, this must be either
-> caused by your way of installing XP
-> caused by your Ninjatrader installation
-> caused by a general bug of NinjaTrader affecting all users of XP + NinjaTrader + Zenfire/TT
-> caused by a manipulation after the installation, such as changing the timezone of the PC, while Ninjatrader was running
I do not see any other option.
I had a look at my .NET 3.5 installation. It includes
now one with TT -
- 1 year old XP installation
- newsets clean NT 7 RC 4
- no indicator no strategy, no workspace no backup loaded - its totaly out of the box from yesterday
+ one PC
- 2 weeks old fresh XP
- NT 7 RC 2
- with the zen feed
- full of NTstuff for my daily usage
both still with this issue now
- my router / inet connection gets interupted by ISP one time overnight, so also this connection
is renewed the today
We know this is related to the US having introduced summer time during the weekend. This points to a time zone conversion problem. Historical data is still being converted with the old difference of 6 hours between EST and CET. This means that whatever is converting the time stamps did not get the information on the daylight saving schedule. This information depends on the date. A false date somewhere along the chain may cause such an effect.
Max.
Imo it's over kill to think about a new XP install.
If you intend to do that then you may as well just delete/uninstallNT/installNT new as below, first.
The problem as I think Metaltrader and FatTails mentioned here, is that NT data base is corrupted.
Sometimes doing the "Repair DB" fixes this, sometimes it doesn't.
I'm on GMT and to be frank, I've had the exact same problem as you when our clocks go back/forward.
My mistake (assuming NT can't cope with this within it's software) was changing my PC clock whilst NT was open.
Sometimes I had the problem even when changing pc clock with NT closed.
(Now I just leave it alone on EST time, which is why it gets so late here, without me realizing it lol)
My instinct tells me that the 3 minute time sync you set up within XP is perhaps the issue,
as it did that whilst the US had their summer time shift, and whilst NT was open.
All a coincidence in many ways.
Again just my opinion, but I believe the only way you'll sort this,
and the only way I sorted it, is as others mentioned,
to create a brand new data base.
This means deleting your present one.
The only real way to do that is to delete all workspaces (except "default") from within NT
(MyDocs/NT/bin/workspace.)
Assuming you want to keep any of all of those.
Copy past them to outside NT (ie to desktop)
Do the same for all chart templates and cs and zip indicators.
That way you still have them all and can drag them back into NT if need be.
But you then need to completely uninstall NT and install from new.
This, I believe (corrected if others know better) will start a new "clean" data base".
(all in all it should only take about an hour !)
hth
This can't be a corrupt database since any "Repair Database" does not impact/touch historical data which is stored separately in files. There is no problem with the NinjaTrader installation either. The problem is a time zone conversion issue which is local to max-td's machines. There is either a missing XP patch or some setting that impacts this. We have just completed local tests on our XP machines to double check and all works as expected.
max-td,
I will assign your ticket in our system to our IT manager so he can work with you to resolve this.
After further research, it appears that the problem is that you don't have the correct patch that deals with the DST conversion. This is based on the information provided in your trace file.
Your best bet is to run Windows Update but what is important is that you install Service Pack 3 (you are currently on Service Pack 2) and this patch that address the DST issue for 2011 - Download details: Update for Windows XP (KB2443685).
Yes, my terminology "corrupt data base" may be incorrect, apologies.
I'm not technically minded with this, just want it to work, and it's an intuitive thing to change clock settings
to get market start/close times in sync when back/forward time changes occur.
As I stated, the problem all stems from "time stamp" stuff because of the clock changes.
All I can say is that I went through the same problems a few times over the years and the process I
outlined was all I was left with to solve things, even though it wasn't a total cure because I just
simple have to now not mess with the pc clock any more.
Only wanted to help get the guy up and running again
but going forward I hope you're able to find the actual problem and a fix.
Personally I've found your support always does the very best it can.
We're just traders here (some with more tech software knowledge than others).
I just want things to do "exactly what it says on the tin" which, for
the majority of the time it does.
Is this why I get different Pivot Points for you indicator and the standard indicator? I use US Equities RTH on all my charts.
R2,R1,PP,S1,S2 are same, BUT for S3, S4,R3 and R4 shows different values... Why?
I verified with yesterdays high,low,close from Yahoo Finance for IWM. As well calculated them exactly as Pivot Point Calculator
PP = (H + L + C) / 3
R1 = 2 * PP - L
S1 = 2 * PP - H
R2 = PP + RANGE
S2 = PP - RANGE
R3 = PP + RANGE * 2
S3 = PP - RANGE * 2
R4 = PP + RANGE * 3
S4 = PP - RANGE * 3
This is certainly the wrong thread to ask questions on pivots, as there are several pivot threads, so if you want to discuss it in detail please use on of those.
S3, S4, R3, R4 are not floor pivots but have been added later. There are two alternative formulas used for these, you will find more details in the pivot thread below. The PivotsDailyV31 indicator can display both options:
Floor -> the narrow pivots will be displayed
Wide -> the wide pivots will be displayed
As far as I know narrow pivots are more widely used than wide pivots. For further questions, please post here:
I am getting quite a number of messages and mails, how to configure the various pivot indicators, so I decided to post a brief summary and explain via a few examples, how to draw the pivots where you want them. I attach the SessionPivots indicators for …
