Hi LukeGeniol,

I've used PTF and as far as I remmember, I had also problems creating the database. I sorted that out finally, but I am really sorry I do not remember how. However I do not use PTF anymore.

regards

rani

I also had the same problem with the DB.
I think it was a Windows role issue, something like that.

I also don't understand why they didn't use a simpler DB system. If techies guys have problem to install it, how about the average Joe !

Not exactly. It worked good with RT data from IQfeed and delayed from Yahoo (or Google, do not remember). It is a good start for a retail trader interested in equity pairs trading. However I was not sure what logic is behind the signals, therefore I really did not trust them. Anyway, it was kind of easy to work with all the features including backtesting. I just use my own system where I know what is behind.

I didn't know the logic behind the analisys was hidden, i thought it was an analitical platform for correlation, ratio, spread, etc... Anyway i'm interested in pair trading, do u do it? what do you suggest for starting? Books, softwares, kinda of analysi....etc.
Thanks.

Luke,

I do pair trading (equities, commodities). What are u looking for? Equities, Forex,... I am using Investor R/T (and Updata) with prop. systems for my analysis. It really depends on what and how you will trade. For commodities there are a lot of systems based on seasonal factors, here you can start at MRCI. Equities are more correlation, stat arb, etc.

Problem solved, uninstalled SQL 2008 express, and installed the SQL 2008 R2 (database only) from here SQL Server 2008 R2 Express - Installation Options, now PTF starts.
