Does anyone know offhand if I can connect BOTH Ninja and MC simultaneously to TWS to test drive both front ends at the same time live? I.e., will TWS be able to track the two clients separately?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I just did a test and it assigned each API user (Multicharts/NinjaTrader) a different Id and tracked the orders that way... my recommendation, donwload TWS and test it with their demo account.
Ok, thanks Sysot. I was trying to do that but had trouble with both. I think I know why now. It looks like I can't use Ninja's free trial on an outside sim account (kind of renders the trial useless), so it couldn't connect to IB; and I think there is a break between MCs chart trader and the DOM when feeding an alternate data source for history.
On a side note, does the Master API id matter in the TWS configuration? Or just leave it at -1??
To test the DOM through IB's simulation account? I've been able to connect the datafeed with no problem, but not the DOM. The 'global sim mode' and 'account dropdown' flags are greyed out on the Control Center and DOM. Is there another setting I need to look at? Thanks in advance.
You can only connect to the datafeed to get live data, you cannot send trades to TWS using the trial license. You need a paid NT license for IB, in order to send orders to TWS live or TWS Sim.
