does anyone know how to use level 2 quotes? and what instruments can level 2 be used on?

To receive level 2 quotes you need to subscribe to a data provider who supplies level 2 quotes. Kinetick, Zenfire, CQG and most of the brokerfeeds support level 2 for stocks, ETFs and futures. FOREX is a special case, where level 2 quotes are often not available or faked. Generally level 2 quotes can be used for all exchange traded instruments.

To display the level 2 quotes you have basically two options:

(1) Open a new SuperDOM, right-click on the DOM window and select properties, then set "Show Market Depth" to true.

(2) Alternatively you can display the level 2 quotes on your chart by using an appropriate indicator. You could start with one of the numerous versions of the jtRealstats indicator, see chart below.
