Yet again the futures.io (formerly BMT) forum doesn't fail to amaze me with the quality of content it contains and the willingness of its members to spend countless hours contributing to the community.
To all those who have contributed on this and all the other excellent quality content on this forum, I salute you. Hopefully one day I will have something valuable to contribute.
Friends
Can anyone provide me excel spreadsheet to manage my futures trading in NSE/India. I am new in trading futures, and desperately require your help..
Nothing Sir,
But for trading in indian markets, I think the journal needs to be modified.. I just dont know how to do that. BTW I am trying to do that. Is there any other simpler record keeping spreadsheet posted in this thread?
regards
Srivastava
The journal from the beginning of the thread got progressivly more advanced as new versions came out. If the newest version is too much for you, maybe try downloading the earlier version/s from the 1st few pages of this thread.
I have this crazy idea of linking my platform (sierra) with my metric spreadsheet for real live automatic metrics, I believe this is possible through Sierra Chart's spreadsheet studies output=excel, but I have 0 experience using their spreadsheet function. Anyone have experience with Sierra?
You might get a major performance issue with doing this. Sierra will update the spreadsheet on every tick. If the spreadsheet then has to recalculate, and even worse, perform some underlaying macro code, Sierra will have to patiently wait for this to finish before it gets control again.
This is likely to cause the chartbook to keep suspending while all the processing takes place.
This is a general observation and may not be relevent to the metrics spreadsheet featured in this thread, but I felt it was wise to forewarn you.
Another approach which WILL work is to write a little ACSIL routine to paste the trade data into a text file which can then be read by an Excel workbook. This makes the metric cacluation completely asynchronous from Sierra. I think there might be a thread on the Sierra Support Board that goes into some of this method.
I am having an issue with my trade journal which im hoping someone can assist with:
I would like my drawdown to be charted daily. For example if my account balance is $500 at the start of the day and I take 2 trades in the morning resulting in a $200 drawdown, then I take 1 trade in the afternoon for a $50 profit, then my drawdown at the end of the day is $150.
The problem im having is that because I have 3 trades in my trade journal, when I chart this I end up have $200 showing as the drawdown, instead of $150. So I guess basically I need a way for my chart to summarise intraday data into daily totals (ideally without having to create a separate tab containing daily summaries)? I have attached a screenshot which shows an example if you refer to 05-Jun-11. The drawdown chart should show -R768 (the final drawdown for the day). But instead it is showing -R2112 which was the max drawdown for the day.
