You said CPU, but it looks like you meant GPU.

First, you need DisplayPort or HDMI monitors when dealing with that many of them. DVI will just be a massive headache and will require you to run at least three cards. You could do it with one single card if DisplayPort or HDMI.

I've had both the Radeon 5870 Eyefinity 6 and Radeon 7870 Eyefinity 6. The card is built for gaming, not for trading. It has loud fans and is huge. Also I had enough problems with basic Windows desktop support and bugs that I finally gave up, and went back to a simpler and older solution.

That solution was two single slot passive ATI FirePro 2460's. Each can power 4 DisplayPort monitors. I bought mine on ebay for around $150/ea, one of them was brand new sealed. Deals vary.

Avoid adapters. Better to buy video cards that natively support your monitors, or monitors that natively support your video cards. Dongles and adapters can cause problems.

I chose the FirePro 2460 because it has the same mini-DisplayPort connectors that the Radeon 5870 Eyefinity 6 and Radeon 7870 Eyefinity 6 had, so I could re-use all my existing cables.

I have six Dell U2412M LED monitors, and also highly recommend them.

i have a radeon 5970 in this one and its running 3 , 2 dvi and one active dispaly port .

but i was told its a waste to have these high powered gaming cards ,

i have 3 asus vw246h moniters and just orders 3 more , great moniters for $179 im sure your dells are great too.

so 2 - ati 2460 will run 6 monitors no problem , do i need any other cords ?

The 2460's are 4-mini displayport each. The Asus VW246H seems to be HDMI, so you would need adapters. I would not recommend this.

Since your monitors are HDMI, I would probably not buy the FirePro 2460's. That's just me, because I don't care for adapters after having bad luck with them personally. Maybe someone else can tell you HDMI to DisplayPort adapters work perfectly.

Instead you can look at nVidia cards which use HDMI. I can't make any recommendations there.

I took a quick look at the GT430 and couldn't find any mfr's selling them with more than 2 HDMI ports. So it means three cards.

I'm not up-to-speed on nVidia cards, because I bought DisplayPort monitors which means ATI/AMD cards.

thanks mike ill keep looking , so ur not a fan of the mini to dvi adapter then , cause i just saw the firepro w600 which runs 6 and it would cost a little less then 2 - 2460
