I tried TabMaster out of curiosity and found its pretty cool. personally i am comfortable with the default floating windows of NT's and using the same only
1. It is best to connect to data feed provider and let charts load before starting Tab-Master. Otherwise one can get some strange behavior with both windows and workspaces.
2. As creator states, it is better to use "Grab Soft" with NT. With "Hard" one do not get access to the toolbar.
3. One can use several instances of Tab-Master to sort out different types of charts.
4. When having a workspace active within Tab-Master and then selecting another workspace with NT Control Panel, the first workspace stays open within Tab-Master with the newly selected on task bar as normal, meaning one will have both workspaces visible. Then when selecting the first workspace again (which is open and visible within Tab-Master) the last selected goes away, and only workspace within Tab-Master is visible. So when having a workspace active within Tab-Master, this is unaffected by changing of workspaces with NT Control Panel.
5. Regarding point 4, meaning one can also have more than one workspace open sorted within each Tab-Master window.

Sorry, but I have to modify what I wrote in point 5 in previous post. When selecting another workspace it seems that it is not possible to move the charts within Tab-Master with the first workspace.

I have corresponded with the developer of Window Tabs where I have outlined the needs with NinjaTrader and luckily he has responded positive to this.
He has directed me two times to new beta's and with the newest one the charts did not freeze at all and drawing tools where fully accessible all the time. In the time I tried it Chart Trader was also working fine it seemed. I have tried with totally three tab groups and three charts in each. Very promising.
The one thing I am missing with the last beta I tried as a feature was the grouping of the charts in tab groups on the Windows taskbar, but this is something he will make available.
Twelve months on and still waiting for native NT tabbed windows!
I have just moved to Ninja from TradeStation which does cause me anguish when wanting to view additional data windows as easily as TS manages task. So...
1. Being an NT newbie, is there a rule of thumb for maximum open workspaces in NT? I have Win 7 64-bit with 8GB RAM and reasonable Quad CPU. Yes, I can go forth and experiment, as I must, but is there a reliable guideline?
2. Or is there another option within NT? Prefer to not add extra software as mentioned above if possible.
Thanks for any advice. I really want to stay with NT.
Most problems are normally caused by badly coded indicators or application of many calculation intensive indicators. If you don't use tons of indicators per chart and make sure the ones you use are well coded, you can run really many workspaces. Probably more than you can keep track of, though I never tried how many is possible. You will be able to see in the task manager when you get close to the maximum...
I run my workspace with roughly 16 charts and some calculation intensive stuff with a CPU load well below 2,5% on average, using about 260MB RAM so if I extrapolate that I would get mad with all those charts
