For those of you who've used both feeds, do you have a preference and why? The demo's I've tested seem like I get a faster fill using CQG, and the quotes seem to be coming in a tiny bit faster than Rithmic. In live trading is CQG and Rithmic comparable with fills? Does it matter what FCM's you use with the data feed?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I have used both with Ninja. You will not be able to visually tell any difference in speed. They both are fast to fast for human eye to determine anything. I had nothing but problems with CQG feed. I wanted to like it because of the server side OCO but to many disconnects. This may not be everyones experience but for me it was not good.
Rithmic has been rock solid. If you need speed you can colocate with Rithmic directly and are tied directly into their engine. When I say directly you are on same router with the engine. Its not cheap but is worth it.
I also would not rely on demos to tell you anything as demo may be slower.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
I disagree.
I can see the difference in the two feeds.
Especially on days like today (Fed Meeting release days)
All day the market has been slow.
Just before a Fed decision I always reboot my machine and restart NT.
I've noticed when the decision comes in there is a mass of data.
Just after the Fed announcement...
When I'm connected to CQG I get a lot of pausing and spurts of data and freezing.
When connected to Rithmic none of that exists.
I can connect to Rithmic and let it stream and get consistent data.
Then disconnect and connect to CQG and I get data then pauses then an ORANGE Connected from NT.
(That means it is still connected but not optimal)
If I disconnect and connect again to Rithmic, no data pauses.
Perhaps it is just my connection but it happens too often for me to think otherwise.
If I do a ping test I get consistent ping results with either connection to a third party IP address.
The slow down appears to only be between my NT and the CQG connection.

@DavidHP I can't say I disagree with that. Typically it is almost impossible to see a feed difference with human eye. But under those circumstances where a lot of data is coming in I can see where would be easy to see. My experience with rithmic has personally been much better than CQG.

what's your access time to Rithmic servers?
I've got under 60 ms from central Europe when using Europe gateway.
Good job...It used to be 140 ms using standard Chicago gateway.
