Watch me pass a 30K 50K and 100K Combine using "mostly" the parameters set for the 30K. All comments and suggestions are welcome. Custom indicators, along with my trade management tools on the way as well!!
Hello Everyone! Welcome to my TopstepTrader Combine.
Me -
I've been trading for years. Never had a winning year. I've blown out my futures account about 7 times - if there is a club for doing that, I'm in it.
@traderlange added you into the mix. Nice journal thanks. Attached is updated file that can be unzipped into a directory that has shortcuts to all the entrants in the contest for viewing their journals and of course I added yours.
Here is my trading journal. I am developing a momentum auto strategy to trade in the combine. As of today, I am in a continuous combine, and am positive after 10 days discretionarily trading it. I traded 2 or 3 days in sim that would have gotten me into LTP if I had traded those days in the combine instead, so I am off sim and will only trade the strategy going forward in the combine. Preferably, I want to trade the remaining time on this one with the auto strategy. I am trying to figure out how to get the orders accepted by Rithmic. I tried using the auto bot, but the orders were rejected.
I will be trading a discretionary system against a mechanical trading system I have developed in Ninja Trader. The discretionary system will change periodically, but the mechanical system will remain the same, just optimized for look back periods and …

Just a little easier than going through the whole thread, although that is fun too
I am interested in learning more about Discretionary Trading System vs. Mechanical Trading Systems, Thanks.
I found a good base strategy for a momentum/slope system that is working good in markets where the trend has started. I can either run it as an auto bot with a small profit target, or use it to plot my own levels and then wait for inflections at those zones when my strategy kicks in. I am very excited to finally be trading the auto bot in the TST combine. It has been testing well this past week. But everyone has been doing well this past week with all the great volatility. So I thought I would make sure include the Randy McKay trend filter requirement for the strategy. I'll update my journal to let you know how it is going. I would like to use a bot strategy in the $150K combine across several asset classes and markets.

Now you and I can see how I can have such a hard time trading at times now.
Actually this is the first time I have actually gotten into the actual reading of threads and other things on this site because of this contest. It is like you lit the match when you suggested to me a while back that Journaling online here would help. Then ya had to have this contest, and it was like pouring gasoline onto my futures.io (formerly BMT) site curiosity. You have more nooks and crannies to this site than there were doors in Alice in Wonderland.
