Greetings everybody, i am new in trading and i will be using IB as my broker and probably esignal for trading. I am a bit confused with the time zones. I am only interested in trading Nasdaq and NYSE equities, i live in Europe so what time zone should i setup in my platforms and my pc, local time and just calculate the time of the opening or the exchange time?

Thanks,
Themis

Use the search box at the Right and top of the page.

You want to search for Session or Session time.
Here is one to get you started.

For Stock Market I think it's better the exchange time (at least logically I would do so)
But I don't trade it. Some guys here on NexusFi (formerly BMT) know better than me.

Take your Pips, go out and Live.

It really depends on you. There's no standard "right" time to trade. Not everybody likes trading in prime time. Some people are best at trading crude oil overnight watching charts from 6PM to 6AM, other's are best at scalping TSLA during the 9:30-9:35 opening period and that's all the trading they do. It all depends. I would suggest trading various hours when you can and keeping a journal. Determine what time frames you perform the best in. I found that I was only finishing Mondays profitable 26% of the time, so I stopped trading on Mondays all together which slightly increased my weekly PnL.
