Does anyone know of a reliable and well maintained downloadable list of stock tickers for the NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX?

I’ve been using

Company List: NASDAQ, NYSE, & AMEX Companies - NASDAQ.com

but I’m finding that the files contain many tickers that are not valid. I'm assuming they are out of date which is surprising given that the site also lists a change log for tickers that have changed ( which is of not practical use to me ).

I also need to know the industry group for each stock ticker ( which the aforementioned site’s files do in fact contain ).

Thanks. It's good but the free version doesn't have the industry group ( in fundamental data ).

My R script that automates all my data management uses the NASDAQ list from their FTP site.

Check the R TTR:stockSymbols() function

r - Find which sector a stock belongs to - Stack Overflow

I then augment this with data from IQFeed.
