Something went wrong or you did something wrong.
If you backup/restore the bin64 directory then you'll have older .exe and Ninja .dll for the 64 bit version, 7.0.1000.30 or what you had previously, not a good idea...
It would be a much better idea to contact Ninja trader support (you can email directly from the Help menu) and get help in making sure the conversion is done right. They can even connect remotely and step though the conversion and troubleshoot any issues. This is not a problem that other people are having, and as Sam says, it looks like you just restored the old version right back (bin64 contains NinjaTrader.exe, the actual program file)....
The easier in this case is maybe to uninstall Ninja, be sure there is no more "C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7" directory, then install it once again.
The important folder you don't want to lose is "My Documents\NinjaTrader 7".
I think that can happen when individuals run the installer without closing the NinjaTrader application. In any case, that's why we want users to update now vs waiting until the last minute. So that any potential issues can be resolved well ahead of time.
what happen was the update message popup when ninja open and the popup message didn't specifically instruct to close ninja before updating or didn't make it strong enough.
@NinjaTrader, if that's what happens, a quick programming change in the installer could check for NinjaTrader running, give a message and then stop the install until it is closed. That would be better than having to rely on telling people in a forum post, wouldn't it? Could bypass some support problems, too.
Like Sam said ,(Instructions,),must have ninja OFF,,,I did NOT remove anything, just got on the download page from Support center in Help, got key ready to paste, Closed Ninja, then did download again,,and it fixed itself.
Hope this helps, and makes since,,,my computer skills are horrible ,along with my typing.
NinjaTrader 8 installer works this way however for various reasons, it was not a viable change in NinjaTrader 7. We did amend our advisory with explicit instructions to shut down NinjaTrader.
Also, I´ve spent the morning running A LOT of Windows Update (dot net 4.5.x, 4.6.x and even 3.x) and restore points and now, it seems the strange behavior is gone! Finally!
At least today NT did not gone blank even once.
