I am a fairly long term user of Sierra Chart (4 yrs off and on?) and often I see people asking about what feeds are recommended when choosing Sierra. I have used it personally with Rithmic, CQG and CTS T4 feeds, so I wanted to comment on the new CTS T4/Sierra data feed combo that just came available.
Rithmic is a good feed, though it has some drawbacks in terms of longer term historical bid/ask data, and also native server side OCO (from my recollection) was non-existent.
CQG is a fantastic feed, on CQG platforms. I have noticed that CQG feeds on third party platforms are much slower (I have tried both the web api and fix versions on Multicharts and Sierra) to the point of it being frustrating to trade the more jumpy instruments like CL and NQ on a DOM
CTS T4. This was by far the best feed I have used for Sierra so far, the only drawback has been high per side execution costs that CTS applies (50 cents per contract per side) In 2 years of using CTS with Sierra, I never once experienced any locked orders, laggy executions, unwarranted slippage issues, etc. It is a rock solid feed, and a rock solid execution side. Truly a tank
Now there is a new version, you can use Sierra Chart's data ( I believe they use Barcharts data ?) with CTS execution, with a much lower (10c per side) execution fee. This is an interesting combo, since Sierra is very proactive at solving any issues and upgrading the platform (multicharts, are you listening?) and you get the rock solid CTS execution, for a much lower price. For those doing some reasonable volume on futures, this seems like a great way to go.
Not sure of all the brokers that have this combo, but I know Optimus @mattz does, maybe there are some others too.
Anyway, just putting it out there, when I saw this was available I thought I would share my experience with CTS and Sierra, hope it helps someone. cheers - J
I would like to add a few things to your post:
Yes, the solution is rather cheap for execution, so we transferred this cost saving to the customer to the best of our ability while attempting to cover the cost of platform and data.
This solution specifically allows the trader to receive accurate historical data supported directly by Sierra, hence making technical support much easier.
Rithmic is excellent solutions for execution. However, it does not provide Bracket Server Side OCO when you trade on Sierra directly.
If there are any other questions here, I would be more than happy to assist.
Thank you,
Matt Z

In the case of Rithmic, there is long-term historical Bid Trade Volume and Ask Trade Volume provided. Just make sure you are using Sierra Chart service package 5 (Advanced).
Server-side OCO orders are also supported in more recent versions with Rithmic. Actually for some time now. Probably about two years.
Although support for managing bracket orders on the CQG server has recently been added, the most reliable and flexible implementation is always going to be with CTS using the new connection model implemented by Sierra Chart where the management is on the Sierra Chart server.
One thing that we have seen is that bracket orders do not necessarily always work as expected when they are managed by the external trading service. This kind of issue has been solved with the new connection model Sierra Chart uses to CTS: CTS T4 Trading Platform Service - Sierra Chart
Now that this has been out awhile is anyone using this new integration for live trading and has it been trouble free? I like the sound of this but wondered about the added complexity of the Sierra Chart Server talking to the CTS Order Routing Server. I work in IT and have seen the he said she said thing happen when there are issues and it can take longer to resolve when multiple parties are involved.
What if there were issues can the broker still see the orders and get you out of a trade if needed?
This integration was done by Sierra. In fact, to the best of my understanding, it is the only Bracket Server Side OCO that Sierra took care of the implementation. I would encourage you to ask them directly as well.
In the event that you need support, we can assist in execution with the appropriate FCM.
Thank you,

I'd like to wake this thread back up to see if anyone is using the new advanced and lower-cost connection model to CTS T4 with the Sierra data. If you are, how is the stability of the SC data and order management server? I require server side bracket OCO orders, but not sure how I feel about them being held on the SC servers compared to CTS servers. How is the SC data speed when it comes to higher volatility events. And does this new connection model include a mobile platform to enter and manage trades from?
I'm on this combo via Matt at Optimus. There's actually a good reason why a trader might prefer to use Sierra's servers to hold the OCO/bracket orders. But until I hit five posts or more in this forum I cannot send the Sierra weblink to explain why.
