I haven't used the particular scanners you are talking about, but I have used the scanners in TD, Schwab and TS and I think the power scanner beats them all hands down for finding stocks with volatility. There is a reason it is sub based, but yes it is extra on top of the software. I believe these scans could be setup in another scanner though as well.
Me too. I use eSignal for equities. I like their power scanner. Also, I got a super lucky. I have my e-Signal costs covered due to my account at Tradier. Not sure Tradier is running that promotion now, but they had it this May.
Does the esignal package give you access to all the markets including. Futures and futures options? I know tradier is just for stock options. I would like to get a sub thru tradier and use esignal as a front end to ibkr as well.
Additionally, the option analytix program is 250 buck add on. So I would prob need an excel rtd to build up the risk mgt part.
I have used eSignal for many years for futures. It used to have complications, but they have cleaned it up very nicely. Users that have problems due to it's being charts driven, which means it needs at least 16MG of Ram and a high speed network. The charts are very flexible and it's inexpensive at $150-200/month. I have my algo's programmed into Excel and I find the Excel RTD (QLink) is very effective, there aren't many packages that offer that feature. I haven't used the options package Options Analytix.
i used it ..there data is good..but if you use tick data there is no back filling tick charts unless there has been resent changes. they do not have all the market breath markers as well, there is also a grater learning cure in there charting package, and not as many third party indicators. if you do not use tick data for back testing, odd market breath indicators or certain third party studies. they have the best data out there for the money, hope it helps
Anyone have any luck using Esignal data to incorporate into their trading algos? It doesn't have to be a complex system.
The reason I asked is I have been using Esignal for 10yrs and I think they provide the best data. That's why the price is higher than others.
Anyway, I would like to call certain indicators from Esignal into my Ninjatrader programs. I find that the indicators from NT8 is not as good as Esignal. for example. the $tick on NT is not accurate. It doesn't aligned with the moves of the ES while Esignal's $tick is spot on.
TICK is a vendor calculated index, it's going to be different on every platform...
"Free markets work because they allow people to be lucky, thanks to aggressive trial and error, not by giving rewards or incentives for skill. The strategy is, then, to tinker as much as possible and try to collect as many Black Swan opportunities as you can"
IB provides sampled data, eSignal is full T&S, so not really a useful comparison.
I used to monitor IQfeed, TS and eSignal in parallel; now I just use eSignal. It has quirks (e.g. zero B/A no change), is pricey and has less than ideal customer service since the ID/ICE merges but it is a quality feed, as are their calculated indexes.
I agree that all platform tick feeds differ due to timing issues, but some are definitely more interesting than others. Hopefully competition keeps them all improving.
@tthoang88 if you are using ^TICK => $TICK mapped from NT7/8 to eSignal then it should be identical; that said I have certainly observed better and worse implementations of the same indicators between the two platforms but that is a different matter.
One notable downside is Tick Replay does not appear to function/be implemented for NT8 on eSignal, maybe @NinjaTrader can comment here.
Neo1: Not sure what you mean by different vendor interpret ^tick data differently. A $tick data should be the same data across all platform. If the ES mini drops 10pts within mins I would except the $tick to go -1000 or more. NT8 platform would show a large neg $tick readings of -500 and then 15-20 mins later show -900 whereas Esignal would show $tick -1000 or larger readings at the time of the ES drop. Not just NT but the other data like Data NTIQ as well.
The reason I need this accurate or close to it as possible is bc my trading is based off of $tick to signal my entry. I only trade during extreme moves and this may happen 1-2x a day or not happen at all. Sitting around waiting for this to trigger is hard work (not being able to trade . I'm trying to write a program to set a trigger when this event occurs and I would initiate an entry.
Ratink: You seem to know a lot. So, are you suggesting I find a way to use Esignal bc the other vendors aren't as accurate?
