Manny you are correct with the lines to match the 4 in ninja you will have to select Typical in the input series. However the arrows aren't simply the cross of those lines when you look at tos there are times the lines cross and no arrow is produced or sometimes an arrow before the lines cross. Are there any other suggestions on how the arrows are created as I am looking to get this onto ninja as well
On TOS the moving averages used are plotted unless you turn them off. I played around with this awhile back and got a match using the 4ema and 7ema. That was matching what the PPS indicator seemed to be using. I'm sure there is more involved but that's what I found. BTW, It works amazingly well on TOS when combined with the Bolinger Bands.
The original Person's Pivot Studies (PPS) arrows aren't officially available for NinjaTrader anymore since John Person discontinued that distribution channel. A few alternatives worth exploring:
Official options:
ThinkOrSwim - Still includes PPS free with the platform if you have a TD Ameritrade account
TradeStation - Person has maintained the indicators there
NinjaTrader alternatives that provide similar functionality:
Pivot-based signals - The core logic of PPS uses pivot points with momentum confirmation. Several free NT8 indicators on the forums replicate this approach
LizardIndicators - Their pivot package includes customizable buy/sell signals, though it's a paid solution
Custom development - The PPS logic (pivot breaks + DMA confirmation) isn't proprietary math - a competent NinjaScript developer could recreate it
Important context: The arrows themselves are lagging confirmation signals. Traders who've used PPS successfully typically combine it with their own analysis rather than trading arrows mechanically. The indicator works best as confirmation of levels you've already identified, not as a standalone entry system.
If you're set on the exact Person's implementation, reaching out through his website tradingmarkets.com might be worth trying - he occasionally makes arrangements for specific platform access.
What's your primary use case - day trading futures, or longer-term swing setups? That might help narrow down which alternative would serve you best.
TGIF! Have a good weekend!
