I think that TS used to clear via RJO. I believe now they are self-cleaning. BTW, you can bridge TS with OEC and Blue Water (old trademaven). I can provide TS if you need it.
Thanks,

Save yourself many headaches and go straight to Multicharts.
I started out using NT7 and 8 and loved the platform. However, I'm not a programmer so I had to look for something else to code my indicators and strategies, and that's when I started using Tradestation. It's a good platform.... till it's NOT. When markets started moving, TS kept on disconnecting. Imaging the market moving against and poooof... no connection.... Anyway, this kept on happening every time the ES moved on the live account (it wouldn't do it on the simulation account!!!). Their customer service is not what it used to be. Additionally, it would take days to do an extensive backtest (exhaustive or genetic)... These problems went away by simply switching to Multichart/CQG/AMP combo.
I have MC 64. I couldn't believe how fast it would finish a backtest or walkforward analysis. It also uses the same indicators i built in Tradestation. The look and functions are very intuitive (can't say that about Sierra).
GoodLuck..
It also configured to 4K screens now. Looks very good on it.
Thanks,
Matt Z

I have not had any of the issues @mamax98 mentioned with TradeStation, not sure if he used it recently or his internet was the issue. I have had NT lock up frequently during fast markets, Multicharts does have a good rep but now you have to source your data feed from a third party vs TS which clears through RJO and is excellent overall. I know far more full time traders using TOS and TastyWorks for options and TS for stocks and futures just my .02
I decided to stop using TS for trading in September this year. I thought it was my internet too, but the same issue kept on happening even after midnight (so heavy traffic was ruled out). Also, my log showed continuous internet connection. It was just Tradestation.
I think Easy Language is MUCH easier to program in than Ninja. The running joke among long time traders is that Easy Language was developed by traders for traders, while Ninja was developed by programmers for programmers.
My background is with older languages: Basic, Fortran, Cobol, Pascal. So that might explain it - Easy Language is not modern compared to C++ and Java...
Also, I have been using TS for 10+ years, and never had to program a dll to do something. But then again, it might be the case that since I know the limitations, I just work around them.
I think the key is to learn whatever platform and language you choose well enough that you know the tricks to avoid creating unrealistic equity curves...
Wondering if you could talk about the upcoming TradeStation version 10 which is supposedly a complete overhaul??? What are the benefits for traders and programmers? If you ask support they just say faster more features doesn't really explain anything. Will you have to learn new programming skills to migrate, lastly how do you think this will compare to NT8?
TY
I have not investigated this at all. My approach has always been to stay behind on new releases, as they are typically more stable and bug free. For example, I am using Tradestation 9.1 (not 9.5) right now, and NinjaTrader 7 (not 8).
With real money on the line, I can't afford to have crashes, bugs, etc. -- even if that means giving up some new features.
I assume for TS version 10 that Easy Language will still be supported. With version 9, they OOEL capabilities (new language) but kept Easy Language. There is just too much Easy Language legacy code out there. But I do not know this for sure.
be advised the Windows security update, that broke TS 9.1, forced everyone to 9.5, and so far...it's been horrible in terms of performance...enough that after 10 years I'm looking to switch to NinjaTrader....assuming the Windows update didn't impact it similarly....

Due to an unfortunate dropped laptop, and the Meltdown & Specter chip vulnerabilities (that lead to the windows patch's) I have recently gone from running 9.1 on W7 to 9.5 on W10. Given everything I had heard about 9.5 this was a move I was dreading, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Seems faster and sharper but obviously cant tell how much is 9.5 vs 9.1, W10 vs W7, and new chip vs 3 year old chip! I'm not a power user my any means but I haven't had a single crash in the month I've been on the new setup.
