Can you please commit to a timeframe as to when parameters will be exposed in order to enable parameter optimization, either via native the native NT8 environment or any third party software such as Bloodhound/Blackbird (SharkIndicators) or SigOpt?
Parameter optimization is an entry level, basic feature, and used judiciously is an integral part of algorithmic trading.
Many other much less sophisticated platforms have had this capability for a long time now.

Can you answer why Ninjatrader sells customers an Interactive Brokers license but you guys haven't updated your software to support IB since 2016 despite it having several significant incomparability errors?
The officially supported TWS version by IB for NT8 is TWS 960.2g, which was released in 2016. In my opinion it is unreasonable to expect customers to use such an outdated version of TWS (would you advocate using 2 year old version of NT8?).
Irrelevant of whether you use the supported version or not, there are many incompatibilities between NT8 and IB TWS which your support team describe as "expected behaviour" but in reality these are incompatibility errors. They include:
- pop up handling errors; NT8 cannot display the pop up messages correctly and displays the html code. The pop up handling function to stop pop ups also does not work so there is no way to turn this off.
- Unable to show accurate realised and unrealised P&L figures for forex trades, in either trades or account sections.
If you sell customers a license (think I paid around $1000) to enable use of a 3rd party software then shouldn’t you have a responsibility to ensure compatibility with the latest version (within reason) of that software? No one is expecting that every time an updated is released you guys should have one out the same day but at least every major update within a reasonable time frame. Only supporting a version that is 2 years old with several compatibility issues that you guys are aware off really is letting your customers down imo. It seems rather unfair to charge customers to connect to a supported broker and then you don’t keep that support up to date.
Do you have any intention of updating NT8 to officially support the latest version and what are the timescales?
We will be updating our supported TWS version to the latest for upcoming 8.0.16.0 which is due out this week or next. Additionally, we will be including a switch to ‘Enable beta functionality’ on the IB connection setting in NinjaTrader. This is opt-in switch enables NinjaTrader to utilize new market data methods introduced by IB, it also enables updated FA account handling and newly introduced Linked account support among a few other changes.
The two specific issues you brought up, these will need to be looked into by our support team to make sure we understand what is going on there and can reply correctly. Please contact [email protected] ATTN: Patrick.

Thanks, I look forward to it. What are the new market data methods? Is it real and historical tick data?
In regard to the specific issues, I have already reported them to Patrick in support numerous times and like I mentioned in the previous post, the response is that this is "expected behaviour" (i.e a known problem) and they cannot give any indication of when or if these will be fixed. I would like to think that known issues would be addressed before rolling out a new "TWS supported" version, especially for something as fundamental and necessary as being able to display your trade and account P&L's?
Real-time data handling only. We did research adding historical tick data but are unable to do so, as it requires every aspect of the IB adapter to be re-written which we, unfortunately, cannot do at this time. On the specific issues, I don’t have the details of the case in front of me but I could ask my product manager to review the case and get back to you, would you have a ticket ID of the last correspondence so I could pass it on to do so? Thank You.
