As some of you know, I will be moving to Ecuador soon (next 6 months or so is the idea).
For many years I have had a desire to leave the States and pursue a simpler and more relaxed environment with great weather. I documented some of this over the …
I was unable to log in it kept asking for a new password but wouldn't accept anything I entered. At least the wait time is shorter than waiting for chat box fix.
Today we've implemented an update to our unsubscribe system.
Prior to today, we relied primarily on people clicking our "unsubscribe" link within our emails to unsubscribe people from future emails.
We've also been using the List-Unsubscribe mail headers for a while, which is primarily implemented by Gmail.
But today, we've also added support for a callback action from Mandrill, our premium email delivery service, so that when a user marks us as spam -- without using our links, we will still automatically remove them from all future emails.
We're tracking this in our database and will display a message to users in the future, letting them know they aren't receiving our emails and why -- and presenting them with choices to resolve the issue. I haven't had a chance to implement this part just yet, and likely won't be able to prior to my big trip to the States, but it is a step forward nonetheless.
We treat spam very seriously, that's why we've done this. We are taking aggressive action when someone marks us as spam, to be sure we don't bother them again - by deleting all their thread subscriptions, and removing them from all notifications and event emails.
As always, please report any problem. This is a rather substantial backend framework change, so I want to be certain of it's correct performance.
