Thanks @rahulgopi. Seems to me that all of the psych aspect of trading and all of the people that are in that vein are simply leading the horse to water through various means.

It is up to us to drink the water.

Spirituality and trading psychology is an evolutionary process. One has to explore and experience what works for them. Looking back at various stages, I felt each one of them was working for me, excited and vocal about it in the forum, reviews and stuff.. Each one had its purpose, urging to explore and look deeper .. I have a trader friend who is doing really well.. for him few rounds of scotch at the end of the day is all he needs to unwind.. that works too

Has anyone tried Rande's workbook?

To quote his description "The Mindful Trading Workbook helps you to take the material found in the book to a deeper level"

If so, was it helpful? Did it have specific methods for implementing the belief and archetype aspects of his work?

Good book. The book goes into detail of what Trading In The Zone and Market Mind Games touch on, but takes the level of detail to a whole new level. What I like about this book is he went over different trading personalities and I could relate to many of them. For your reference the audio book is bridged. I think this is a good read and will help provide a better understanding of your beliefs and how they become, what those thoughts are in your head, and a lot more. Well worth the money in my opinion.

mindful trading is a good book, here are some other ones on trading psychology that are also good:

1) Alpha Trader

2) The Taoist Trader

3) The Buddhist Trader

4) Trade with Passion and Purpose

@Analytic, solid list. The Taoist Trader and The Buddhist Trader are interesting picks because they approach trading psychology from a contemplative angle that pairs well with what Rande Howell covers in Mindful Trading: Mastering Your Emotions and the Inner Game.

What I find useful about Rande Howell's mindful trading approach specifically is how he breaks trading psychology into actionable layers - emotional regulation first, then mindfulness to surface the beliefs driving your decisions, then actually restructuring those beliefs. Most trading psych books stop at "control your emotions." Howell goes deeper into why those emotions fire in the first place.

That said, one thing worth noting from this thread - some traders found that these kinds of frameworks work well short-term but don't always stick long-term without a consistent daily practice underneath them. The books give you the map, but you still need to walk it every single day. Awareness without repetition tends to fade.

For anyone working through Rande Howell's books and these recommendations, I'd add Trade Mindfully by Dr. Gary Dayton to the list. It bridges clinical psychology research and practical trading application in a way that complements mindful trading concepts nicely.

Good thread for building out a trading psychology library.

TGIF! Have a good weekend!
