The problem is the out-of-date editor vBulletin 3.8 uses. It's all fixed in the new framework site, which is still an on-going project. If there was an easy fix I would implement it, but it's more or less an absolute impossibility to improve the current site to allow better uploads/drag-n-drop or paste etc.

As an alternative to my earlier question, I just noticed that when uploading files, there is/was an option that seemingly uploads via URL

If that were available, I could upload large files to a different site that does support upload managers technology and then point its URL onto the upload on NexusFi.

However, I don't see a URL field enabled - Is this an option?

No its not an option, then we end up with broken links when the external link is unavailable. And writing a caching module for this situation is very complex.
