Hi
I have looked around and searched Google and cannot find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.
Someone shared a saved chart .txt file with me and I don't know how to open in TWS. It seems to be looking for a saved layout in .cvs format. I tried for hours, with no success.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
K
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I am not aware of a .txt or .csv chart file format (in respect to TWS and other charting packages) and would be surprised it is possible to exchange chart definitions this way. I would think you need another format.
If you look at a chart in TWS there are a few options to export a chart. See screenshot.
You can:
1) Save a Chart > this will save a .def file in C:\Jts\charts\filename.def (not sure what this is)
2) Save a Chart image > this will save a .png file in C:\Jts\charts\filename.png (=format for images)
3) Save Chart Template As... > this will save a .tpl file in ....\Documents\TWS\filename.tpl (=template file)
The last one is the way to ex- and import TWS charts (as far as I know).
p.s. just red your journal. I think you're doing good. Just keep going. Trade well.
Hi Mich62,
Thank you very much for the help. I tried different options and could not open the chart given. I think maybe my friend saved in the wrong format. He kept telling me its a chart layout and to just open. TWS is such a clunker to work with..No worries, nothing important. It may even distract my trades to see his set ups
And thank you for the journal note I have noticed your trades as well, very good.
Good trading
K
