I've been looking at modifying or creating my own indicators for Sierra Charts. I understand, it should not be that difficult to learn but i have not found a simple tutorial which relates to Sierra and there "#include <Sierrachart.h>" code.
I figure it should not be that difficult; and if someone who knows how to demonstrate some steps, thru an interactive thread, that would be great. Perhaps some simple steps, perhaps we could pick a project to work on, and this person or persons could lead the class. I'm not looking for hand holding, just a little push in the right direction with Q&A, to only get us stated.
I find, alot out there, including the sierra site, lacks a simple process, just to get started.
Don't know how many people are interested, nor if anyone(s) is interested in leading such a class. Not looking for anything earth moving.
Unfortunately, sierra seems as if the concentration is on development and programmers. I think it has so much "more" to offer and so reasonably priced, if only there were a couple of simple steps forward to get stated.
I am interested in learning how to write backtesting and automated code in C++ fopr Sierra Chart and I am having really hard time finding any material related to this as well.
I made some indicators in SC, but now im switch to NinjaTrader for backtest , Sierra as Backtest unusable and Disastrous if u want see realistc results.
In fact SC writes in own Forum , the SC BAcktest/Replay is for test Strategy working only , not for any realistic result.
Today i do BackTest... in NT , and RealTrading in SC, Sc is faster and stable..
Mainly with studies and indicators. I was surprised how powerful the spreadsheets are... As a matter of fact, i saw someone mention that they build their indicators on the spreadsheet before they program them. Which makes alot of sense, when creating the logic. It's easy to mess around with a spreadsheet until you get your thoughts in order.
I think it is ok, as long as the indicators are not to intense.
