Hi everyone,
I'm trading bonds from US with ETH-Session Template.
Is it possible to make different backgrounds for the "night-session" and show the RTH session in one chart?
My thinking is, to see with one eye : this night session and that is RTH/Floor Session in one chart.
thanx
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Jeff, can we set each session in a different color with this indicator ? For example, if my session template contains three sessions, would it be possible to set a different background color for each ?
If you trade US bonds (ZB) you should be aware that the US and Europe have different daylight savings rules. The time difference between Chicago and Frankfurt usually is 7 hours, but reduced to 6 hours during several weeks per year.
There are two ways to cope with this. Either you hardcode the daylight saving rules, which can be done but is tedious, or you use the NinjaTrader SessionManger to handle it. If you use a session template with three subsessions per day
night session 17:30 - 7:20 CT
RTH session 7:20 - 14:00 CT
after session 14:00 - 16:00 CT
the chart will already correctly display the session breaks and adapt to the different daylight saving schemes. Session template attached below.
It is then a very simple task to code an indicator that colours the three sub-sessions. Can be done in a few minutes. Just check, whether you can get along with this session template and let me know your preferred backcolors.
Below is an example, how I use the session template for US bonds. The blue range is the Pivot range calculated from yesterday's RTH value for high, low and settlement. The opening range (red) and the night session range (gray) are displayed for the RTH session only, so RTH starts, when the backcolor changes.
Alll these indicators rely on the session template attached, nothing will work without it.
Should only be used if your system clock is set to the same timezone as the exchange where the instrument is traded. Otherwise you will run into issues with different daylight saving rules.
As it was fast and easy to produce, here is an indicator that gets you different backcolors for each of the intraday sessions. Up to 4 sessions per day allowed. Colors can be selected via indicator dialogue box.
Only works, if the appropriate session template is selected for the chart.
But once you have entered all session templates and selected them in the instrument manager, you can set all your charts to <instrument settings> and then toggle between different instruments and all sessions will automatically adjust.
