But suddenly, for no reason whatsoever that I can see, it is back to normal for me.
Very odd.
Bob.
I'd be willing to bet you don't have that "can you answer these questions?" window with the link to that SCAN syntax question featured. Just a thought.

If you mean this post about the SCAN syntax, yes, it formats just fine for me.
Before, nothing was.
Still very odd.
Spontaneous problem, spontaneous fix. I wonder if it will go back to the problem again....

Actually, yes it did!
The second I pasted in the link in the above post, everything went back to super-wide again.
Perhaps the bb software is haunted.

Yes, I was actually referring to this window:
Just a huge list of shell-scripts for nightly backups and what-not, all packed into the title, I would think that is the root-cause. Not sure how it came into effect like that but I have seen this on various other PHP-based sites in the past (and probably some non-PHP sites)

I went to that window first, and then clicked on the scan post that is listed.
By the way, my formatting is now back to normal once again.
Definitely haunted.

I too have seen it going back and forth. Something must be tripping that up.

The back and forth is caching. I can't get to laptop to fix code or run a new force update so I just edited the post title for the moment to remove quote marks until I can correct code.
So the algo to update is based on thread activity, which is why some may still be broken temporarily.
Permanent fix when I reach laptop.
Thank you to all for detailed reporting!

@
bobwest , I'm dragging this issue over from my journal into here because I'm actually seeing this "huge wide page" effect on all the threads I open this morning, even when opening a new browser in incognito mode.
Today I have the same problem.
Front page loads normally but when I go to any of the threads the page is about 4x wider than the browser. Same problem on Brave, Chrome & Edge browsers, so not browser specific. Not only does it make it difficult to read but since the page, quote and thanks are bottom right, makes it difficult to navigate aorund.

Refresh the page after 5 minutes and it may resolve. Algo is random but good chance, around 60% I believe right now.
Sorry for bug. Will fix today permanently.
