I opened an account with TradeStation, and as soon as I started trading short options on futures, my margin requirement was doubled. Does anyone know of any brokers that don't charge double margin for having short options?

Hi, thanks for mentioning us. We would love to have you...we charge exchange minimum margin. So you are not upcharged, and you will receive portfolio margin (you won't be charged margin on both sides of a short strangle, etc.).

Here is some additional info: https://decarleytrading.com/commodity-brokerage-services/trade-futures/sell-commodity-options-with-decarley

Let me know if you have any questions.

If I transferred my Tradestation account to you, which clearing firm would you use for my account?

For option selling/trading accounts we clear all of our business via Gain Futures (a division of Stonex...previously FCStone).

Decarleytrading sent the request to transfer my Tradestation account on the 14th of October but everything in the account is still with Tradestation. Does anyone know if there is a legal maximum time limit for fulfilling a transfer request?
