I'm trying to implement market profile into my FDAX trading and now I have a question to you guys.

Dax is trading from 1:15-22:05, cash 9:00-17:30 (CET).

Are you guys using full session or just cash?

Generally I prefer to stay just with cash session, because smaller range and there is some fundamental background for it, but "recently" volume on pre/post cash become bigger and bigger and this makes me thinking.

Since the beginning of my trading the DAX I just use cash hours.

Reasons:
• stable number of traders
• volumes medium to high
• volatility predictable
• not many influencing from strong indexes - except the US start in the afternoon

• after EOD 17:30 the volume is strongly decreasing
• volatility much higher - especially until 22:00
• no predictable patterns after 17:30

Preparing the day in advance is more important: are there gaps possible before opening cash hour? Are there important news, numbers, speeches during the day?
Can I see patterns of the weekday that are repeating?
Are there holidays during the week or right after the weekend?

I read your entire thread

My reasons:

• Less time to trade
• Possible gap cash close pattern
• More time to prepare for next session
• Good volume, dax is thin so before/after cash sometimes it's risky.

I use just cash. 9.00 am till 17.30 CET

I trade only cash hours, but I have the profile split in two or even 3:
A) DAX PIT SESSIION: 9-17.30
B) DAX OVERNIGHT but Pit Session open in US indexes: 17.30-22.10
C) overnight: 22.10-9.00 (of the next day)

in session B) DAX tend to follow US indexes in some way.
Most of the time I groups B and C.
