Dear community,

I would be very grateful if someone can recommend the best possible solution, which will fulfill the following requirements I have:

1. For various personal limitations I need to use Interactive Brokers (IB) (as a broker)
2. I am planning to trade only MNQ and MES futures (also hopefully later NQ and ES).
3. I need tick data access for the tick charts.
4. I don't want to use IB's trading platform (i.e. TWS) as it is one of the least user friendly trading platforms I have ever used.

I am looking at using either Quantower or Sierra Charts as a trading platform.

It seems that linking Sierra Charts with IB will almost definitely cause a lot of issues as clearly stated by Sierra Charts themselves (https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/InteractiveBrokers.php). Can anyone share their experience with using IB with Sierra charts for trading MNQ and MES?

For Quantower, while it does look like a good trading platform, I have some reservations due to the fact that it is a relatively new platform... Does anyone had experience using Quantower with IB?

Any recommendations/suggestions will be really appreciated!

Hello,
Im using Interactive + Sierrachart.
TWS is on in background, with just live/closed position windows open to be sure what SierraChart send to TWS by API.

It's not perfect, but works better than Sierra describe it. You need to be careful about "child" orders which can cause some problem if you will close TWS or use it on mobile to check what is happening if you are outside.

If you will just use it for US equities, should be no problems.

Thanks! I have seen this thread. It definitely gives some useful information, however, unfortunately, I haven't found the answer to my question.

Thanks for your reply! Have you also traded NQ/ES futures or only equity? Also, have you used IB data feed or some other provider (CQG, Rithmic, Denali)?

I traded a lot of stuff. 99,99% no problems.
Forget about data from IB, it's crap.

I'm using Denali.
