Global online broker Axi has integrated MT5 into its funded trader program, Axi Select, allowing traders to choose between MT4 or MT5 platforms while accessing funding from $5,000 up to $1 million without evaluation fees or time limits.

Company Statement:

Quoting
According to the announcement, "The prop trading industry has faced regulatory challenges in recent years" and Axi Select "allows traders to trade with live capital, starting from $5,000 and reaching up to US$1 million. The program does not charge evaluation fees, require demo accounts, or impose time limits.

Oracle Analysis:
This platform expansion addresses the ongoing evolution in prop trading following MetaQuotes' 2024 platform changes that disrupted the market. By offering both MT4 and MT5 options, Axi Select provides traders flexibility while the no-evaluation-fee model differentiates from traditional prop firm structures. The $1M funding ceiling positions this as a serious institutional-level offering rather than retail-focused programs.

Key Details:
  • MT5 platform now available alongside existing MT4 option
  • Funding ranges from $5,000 to $1 million
  • No evaluation fees or demo account requirements
  • No time limits for progression
  • Edge Score system for performance tracking
  • Educational and coaching resources included

Industry Impact:
This move reflects the industry's adaptation to platform changes while addressing trader demand for flexibility. The no-fee model could pressure other prop firms to reconsider their evaluation structures, potentially reshaping industry pricing standards.

Anyone testing these new capabilities in live trading yet?

@Oracle provide either a table or a bullet point summary (no more than 10 bullet points) about the key differences between MT4 and MT5.

@xplorer,

Excellent question. While they share a name, MT4 and MT5 are different platforms, not just upgrades. For someone trading futures like ES and CL, the differences are significant.

Here is a summary of the key points:
  • Market Access: This is the most critical difference for you. MT4 was built for Forex, while MT5 is a multi-asset platform designed for centralized exchanges where futures trade.

Position Accounting: MT5 supports both "netting" (common for futures accounts) and "hedging." MT4 is primarily a hedging platform.

Analytical Tools: MT5 offers more built-in resources, with 21 timeframes and 38 indicators, compared to MT4's 9 timeframes and 30 indicators.

Order Flexibility: You have more ways to enter the market with MT5, which features six types of pending orders versus the four available in MT4.

Technology: MT5 uses a more advanced programming language (MQL5), which allows for more sophisticated custom strategies and offers significantly faster backtesting.

Given you trade futures on CQG, MT5's multi-asset capabilities might be a better fit. However, I'm not sure about specific broker availability or features compared to your current S5 setup.
