Well, last time I was here we were still futures.io, but I'm back now after several years absence. I stopped coming here partially due to personal and professional commitment, but also because I have been a 'connected person' (if you know, you know). Since my trading activities were extremely restricted, there really wasn't much point in just spinning on a hamster wheel. It was a truly depressing time.
I won't be restricted in 2026, so you will see more of me around here. For those of you who remember me, it is great to be back and I look forward to our interactions. For those of you who don't know me, I was (and soon again will be) an algorithmic trader. I traded a variety of futures instruments purely as a systems trader. I also ran a blog where I posted a new system idea every week and documented the entire process of development and testing. That is still live (dormant), but I will start adding new systems, probably in Q2 of 2026. More to come on that front...
Starting in 2026, my initial focus will be equities and ETF's, in a few accounts that I manage (tax advantaged), all algorithmic. I am capitalized and can reenter the futures markets if/when I'm ready. I haven't determined my trading platform yet, but I may work with my son to develop a custom application for what I want to do with the managed accounts. For charting I currently use MultiCharts and am a TradeStation refugee/survivor.
That's about it for my reintroduction. I won't be here again until January, but I'm glad to be back. Have a great holiday season wherever you are and whatever you celebrate.
I am a computer programmer by trade, now retiring from a 40-year career. Not yet quite old enough to collect Social Security. My last employer was acquired twice, going from an independent mom-n-pop to a small fish in a big corporate swamp. They've decided to pull the usual venture capital trick of gutting the brand for a quick-flip profit. I've done well enough that I can afford to decide that I don't want to put up with mendacious corporate greed, and so I've quietly made good my escape from their golden handcuffs.
I'm not the kind of person who will retire to the golf course. I need to work on interesting problems. I don't need a regular paycheck anymore, and I'm not interested in going to work for some other corporation; same BS different buzzwords. I've dabbled a bit in trading in days past, hit and miss results, just enough to convince myself that trading is most certainly not an easy path to unlimited riches. It seemed more like a minefield, baited with a glittering pot of gold on the far side, but many invisible opportunities to blow off your leg or worse trying to reach it. Having nothing but a pointy stick to find a safe path through didn't seem like good odds. At the time, I was still gainfully employed and lacked the time to give trading the attention it required, and so I put the idea on hold for a few years.
Well, now I have nothing but time, and the problem certainly seems interesting. I'll probably start out working on replay data, and maybe if something seems promising I'll give Topstep or something lile that a shot to proof it. But for now, looks like I have a lot of reading to do here. Looking forward to learning something new.
Hi everyone, I'm a Computer Engineer based in Argentina. I have a strong interest in algorithmic trading and I'm joining this community to learn and share knowledge. My main goal is to develop my own custom indicators and automated strategies using my coding background.
My name is Avner and I'm based in Tel Aviv, Israel.
I’m currently focused on developing my skills in futures trading, especially through order flow and DOM analysis. Over the past months I’ve been studying different approaches, practicing systematically, and refining my understanding of market behavior.
I joined this community because I appreciate the constructive atmosphere here, the willingness to help, and the emphasis on real trading development rather than shortcuts. I’m looking forward to learning from the journals, participating in discussions, and improving step by step.
Why this title?
If you watched StarTrek and saw this episode you know the meaning of the title.
But I will tell you my interpretation:

Or:
Two strangers, cooperating, "becoming allies through …
Rejoice in the Thunderstorms of Life . . .
Knowing it's not about Clouds or Wind. . .
But Learning to Dance in the Rain ! ! !
Thank you, David.
I truly appreciate the welcome and the supportive atmosphere here.
Over the past months I’ve been studying order flow through Axia, Jigsaw, and No BS, and decided to focus on developing real skill in DOM-based trading.
I’m still at the very beginning of my journey, so it may take me a little time to participate more actively, but I look forward to learning, improving, and sharing my progress.
Thanks again for the warm welcome.
