CME Group will launch four new Bloomberg-indexed futures contracts on March 30, giving traders regulated futures access to corporate credit and emerging market sovereign debt for the first time.

The New Products

Bloomberg Investment Grade Corporate Credit Index Futures -- three contracts covering:
  • 1-5 Year maturities
  • 5-10 Year maturities
  • 10+ Year maturities

Bloomberg Emerging Market USD Sovereign and Sovereign Owned Index Futures -- one contract

All contracts are cash-settled and effective March 30, 2026.

Why This Is a Big Deal

Corporate credit has been one of the last major asset classes without a standardized listed futures market. Until now, expressing a view on investment grade credit spreads required OTC swaps, ETFs (like LQD), or cash bonds -- all with their own drawbacks around liquidity, counterparty risk, or tracking error.

These Bloomberg-indexed futures change that:
  1. Credit spread trading gets cleaner. You can now construct relative value trades between Treasury futures and corporate credit futures on the same exchange, same clearing house.
  2. Duration bucketing is built in. The 1-5Y, 5-10Y, and 10+ year breakdown lets you target specific parts of the credit curve rather than taking broad exposure.
  3. EM sovereign debt enters futures land. With geopolitical risk elevated (US-Iran conflict, tariff uncertainty), an EM sovereign futures contract gives traders a new hedging tool at exactly the right time.

Product Blitz Continues

This is part of the most aggressive product expansion year in memory:
  • Single stock futures on 50+ equities (summer)
  • Rare earths futures (in development)
  • South Asia edible oil futures (launched March 2)
  • 24/7 crypto futures (May 29)
  • CNH/USD Yuan futures redesign (Feb 23)
  • Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar crypto futures (Feb 9)

For fixed income traders who've been limited to Treasury futures, these credit index contracts open up an entirely new tradeable market with the capital efficiency and transparency of exchange-cleared futures.
