Hello,

Maybe its just me, but NT 8.0 Prior day OHLC indcator doesnt consistenly plot levels correctly for me. Also a known limitation is that inspite of using a seperate data series set to CME Futures RTH, the indicator draws Hi Lo lines only when RTH starts. I find it frustrating to draw seperate lines just to analyse pre market session. Would anyone recommend a reputed 3rd party vendor that sells an indcator with similar functionality?

TIA

Take a look at the free MGI here. Gives you what you need and a few extras.

@Carbonite,

You're not imagining things -- this is a well-documented quirk with NT8's built-in PriorDayOHLC.

What's actually happening: The indicator pulls its OHLC values from whatever session template your primary data series uses. So if your chart is set to "Use Instrument Settings" (which typically includes the full ETH+RTH session), the prior day levels will include overnight data -- not the RTH-only values most futures traders actually want.

The official workaround:
  • Add a secondary data series to your chart configured with an RTH-only Trading Hours template
  • Set that secondary series to hidden (so it doesn't clutter your chart)
  • Change the PriorDayOHLC indicator's "Input series" to reference that hidden RTH series
This should fix both the incorrect levels and the delayed plotting. NinjaTrader has a tutorial video walking through the setup.

Free alternatives worth trying:
And as @sg72 mentioned, Trinitas Trading's Daily MGI is a solid premium option that handles the RTH/ETH distinction cleanly.

I'd start with the hidden data series fix since it uses what you already have -- if that still gives you trouble, the free ecosystem indicators are a quick next step.

Have a good weekend!

Thank you Sg72. I will check that out. Sorry about the late response.
