FM Intelligence blockchain data reveals the prop firm industry may have hit a payout ceiling after two years of rapid expansion.

Tracked crypto payouts across the ten largest proprietary trading firms reached $115.1 million in Q1 2026, according to a new FM Intelligence analysis published this week. The 109% year-over-year surge from Q1 2025's $55.3 million looks explosive on paper. Look closer and the picture shifts considerably.

The Q1 2026 figure barely moved against Q4 2025's $115.2 million -- a 0.1% sequential change that points to a plateau after two years of relentless growth.

Two Firms Now Dominate the Entire Industry

The concentration within the top 10 is striking:

Together these two firms accounted for 70.5% of all tracked payouts across the entire top-10 cohort. For futures traders specifically, MyFunded Futures' position as the second-largest payer in the industry -- with $38.5 million in blockchain-visible payouts -- is a notable data point about that firm's financial health.

Six Firms Moving in the Wrong Direction

While the top two surged, six operators posted double-digit declines:

The broader 2025 payout league table compiled by Prop Firm Match put the full-year figure at roughly $325 million, excluding FTMO and The5ers.

More Traders Getting Paid, but Less Per Payout

Transaction counts continued climbing even as aggregate dollar flows flatlined. The cohort processed 61,682 payout events in Q1 2026, up 8.1% from Q4 2025 and 129% year-over-year.

But average payout size fell to $1,865 from $2,020, suggesting more traders are hitting first-payout thresholds at smaller ticket sizes. Whether that reflects tighter rules, conservative withdrawal behavior, or firms managing cash flow more carefully is an open question.

The Transparency Caveat

FM Intelligence tracks payouts visible on public blockchains -- currently the most transparent proxy available for prop firm activity. However, as Finance Magnates has noted in previous analyses, these on-chain flows cannot distinguish between trader payouts and payments to affiliates, vendors, contractors, or other operational counterparties. Some firms have acknowledged that headline payout figures include non-trader disbursements.

Five operators in the cohort have added regulated brokerage entities in the last 12 months, signaling a shift toward compliance infrastructure as regulatory scrutiny intensifies.

What This Means for Futures Traders

Three takeaways from the data:

1. Concentration risk is real. When two firms control 71% of all tracked payouts, the viability of your specific firm matters more than the industry's aggregate numbers. If you are with one of the six declining operators, the trend line is not in your favor.

2. The growth ceiling may matter. Two years of exponential expansion appear to have leveled off. Whether this is a temporary plateau or a structural shift will become clearer in Q2 data. For now, it is worth noting that the industry's payout capacity is not growing.

3. Smaller average payouts are a signal, not noise. More traders reaching payout thresholds is positive. Smaller average withdrawals could reflect everything from prudent cash management to tighter firm rules. Track your own firm's payout velocity against these benchmarks.
