Hi,

I have got an weird issue on Tradestation. After I enabled automation for a strategy, it show the red SA mark on the top left. However, when it was triggered to start a short selling, it shows the red mark for the shorting, yet the actual short order is NOT created.

In the strategy orders tab within the trade manager, it shows the stragy is not automated. Do you know why this is even happening?

Thank you!

That is indeed a bit weird, because it looks like you did everything right.

I would try creating a new chart with that, enabling automation, and seeing if that fixes it.

Have you ever had automation working before successfully? Are you having problems with other charts/symbols?

Thank you for your answer!

I am opening multiple charts at the same time, and some of them would work while the others do not. Also, for those charts in which the automation works, the order is not generated 100% of the time, the order is not filled once or twice a week. Seems the execution is not stable. I tried to ask the TS support and looked up online, nobody has reflected such issue yet.

On a chart where the strategy shows a fill, but the automated order was not sent, does clicking on the chart immediately send the order?

Are you possibly on a wi-fi connection?

So some charts send automated orders, then do not, then do again?

In my experience, those are 3 common problems.

I see you are on version 10, I trade live version 9.5 because it is better for stability and reliability.

Could also be something with your code, although I doubt it. If you want someone to look you could post it if it is not proprietary. If you want to keep code secret, do NOT post it here, send it privately.

Your reply will help me dictate steps for you.

Also, do you see anything in the Trade Manager Messages Tab related to the orders?

Are they market, stop, limit orders?

I've had issues with Stop orders that were sent to Execution Network. Unchecking that box fixed a ton of issues I had.

I only have market and some limit orders in the message tab. I quit and restarted the TS10 and somehow it shows the message showing in the attachment. "Link to the trademanager not established..." I tried several times, but it shows every single time, which I haven't seen before.

I think my next step would be to re-install the TS10.

If you decide to reinstall, if you you do not have that many workspaces, I'd personally install 9.5 instead. If you export code before downgrading, the code should reinstall just fine, but workspaces will not.

9.5 install has a "repair" option, if 10.0 does I'd try that first.

@kevinkdog,

These are exactly the right diagnostic questions. The intermittent, multi-chart pattern is a classic sign of TradeManager connection instability rather than a code issue.

A few additional checks worth adding to the troubleshooting list:
  • Verify the Automation tab settings -- In Format > Strategies > Automation tab, confirm "Generate strategy orders" is checked. It's easy to accidentally have Confirmation Mode enabled, which causes orders to sit waiting for manual approval in the TradeManager Strategy Orders tab rather than auto-sending.
  • Watch for the red SA indicator -- If "SA" appears in red on the chart, automation is enabled at the chart level but the TradeManager link has broken. A full TS restart usually clears this.
  • Multiple charts straining TradeManager -- Running several automated charts simultaneously can tax the connection. Isolating the problem chart helps confirm whether it's a resource issue.

The WiFi angle is important -- even brief packet loss can silently break the TradeManager link without a visible error message. Testing on wired is a quick way to rule it out.

And the 9.5 recommendation for live trading is well-founded. Version 10's automation reliability issues have come up repeatedly in discussions here.
