I built an indicator that displays the clock on the chart, and below that the bar time of the current bar being printed. I've seen a difference up to 10 minutes. right now at 10:03 am it is printing the 9:53 AM bar. when I reload history it'll jump ahead. have you noticed minutes of delay? How do you handle this?

Edit: I figured it out, this is happening on a machine that I set to Simulation connection. This doesn't happen on Live connection.

Solid diagnostic tool to share.

The lag ndakotan was seeing is expected sim mode behavior. NT's Simulated Data Feed replays historical data -- it's not streaming real-time ticks. Bar timestamps reflect when that data was received from the feed, not wall clock time. During high-volume periods or when the machine is under load, that replay can drift significantly -- 10 minutes isn't unusual at all.

The fix is straightforward: switch to a live data connection. Any real-time feed (IQFeed, CQG, Rithmic) eliminates the problem entirely -- bar times track clock time because you're getting actual tick-by-tick data. @DTN IQFeed is popular with NT traders here for exactly this reason.

ChartLagTimeV3 is a genuinely useful pre/post diagnostic to confirm feed health after you make the switch. Worth bookmarking even on live data.
