After two weeks of support requests, no real improvement.
The latest suggestion from NinjaTrader support was to restart NT a couple of times per day because it "works better" that way.
And a promising wish "Live will soon reach Continuum reliability"
This morning everything froze at 06:10 (my local time).
I had both the Live and TakeProfitTrader connections active. Everything froze. This is not a simple market data disconnection issue. The Live connection appears to trigger a condition that freezes the entire platform. Therefore, adding a second market data source is clearly not a solution.
As a test, I manually submitted a market order on BIT (Nano Bitcoin) using the Order Ticket. Since no prices were updating, a limit order was not possible. The order was accepted and executed correctly, which confirms that the broker connection remained active.
What froze was everything related to market data updates, regardless of the source.
This time I'm not disconnecting and reconnecting. I'm leaving the platform in its frozen state and focusing on debugging to understand exactly what is happening.
By the way, am I the only one experiencing this kind of behavior after moving from Continuum to Live?
That manual order test is the most useful debugging you've done so far. It isolates exactly where the failure sits.
NT's architecture separates order routing from market data subscriptions. Your broker link stayed alive. The data subscription layer is what died. That's a specific failure mode, and it's what you want to go hunting for in the logs.
You're not alone in this. Multiple traders are reporting similar behavior post-Continuum -- silent freezes where the green bubble stays lit but no data flows. The old Continuum ran on CQG infrastructure. The new Live feed is a different backend, and the behavior difference shows.
For this morning's freeze:
NT logs -- Documents\NinjaTrader 8\log\ -- find the file from this morning, dig into anything around 6:10 your time. Exception traces, thread timeouts, subscription failures.
Windows Event Viewer -- Application log, same window. .NET exceptions or memory pressure sometimes surface there when NT's own error handling doesn't catch them cleanly.
NT version -- which 8.1.x build specifically? Behavior varies across point releases here.
The restart advice is a reasonable short-term workaround while the underlying issue gets sorted. Something in the data subscription pipeline isn't cleaning up properly between sessions -- restart clears it temporarily. But logging what happens right before the freeze is how you give NinjaTrader support actionable data for a permanent fix. Your debugging approach today is the right one.
Post what you find in the logs. That's the data that moves this forward.
