Hi, it's Neilyo.
I started learning price action in February 2025 with the goal of becoming a full-time futures day trader. Since then, I’ve spent a full year trading on a demo account, followed by two months on a $10k live account, which I stopped trading after taking a 50% loss. I then transitioned to prop firms, where I blew 5 accounts and only managed to pass one evaluation—though I never successfully secured a payout. Currently, I am back to trading on demo.
Previously, I was learning from the strategy shared on Forex Factory. However, my heart has always been in futures rather than forex, and I feel like the strategies on FF don't fit well to the futures market. After seeing some members on FF mention that futures.io is a dedicated platform for futures trading, I decided to join. I'm here to learn from a strictly futures-focused perspective and to connect and share experiences with other traders.
As you may have noticed, the site futures.io was rebranded (I think 1-2 years ago), as the owner at the time wanted to expand the site's user base accomodating other financial instruments too.
You will find, however, that the site is still very much heavily futures-oriented.
The experience you mentioned is a pretty typical one in the financial market. You will find several reviews (and wildly differing opinions) about "prop firms" (a word of caution, the ones offering perpetual evaluation accounts for a fee are, in fact, self-styled prop firms, not to be confused with actual prop firms) and their business model.
In any case, I hope you enjoy your stay here. If you have any questions just let us know.
Hey all — I'm Leo. I'm a self-taught systematic futures trader, running automated NinjaTrader 8 strategies on my own live account. Spent a lot of time in the weeds on NinjaScript debugging, backtesting, and walk-forward validation — happy to help out where I can if anyone's stuck on strategy code. Looking forward to being part of the community.
Hey from Nashville — MES day trader, building the boring way
Hi all. I’m a developing futures trader out of Nashville, TN, trading MES micros intraday. Full-time job with flexible hours, so I’m at the screen for the morning session most days.
How I trade, in one paragraph: higher-timeframe structure first (daily/4H/1H), then 5-minute and 15-minute for structure intraday, 2-minute for execution. My core setup is break-of-structure, wait for the retest, confirmation entry — I don’t chase and I don’t guess; if I can’t get the retest, I usually don’t get the trade (working on a play for exactly that problem). VWAP and its deviation bands are the other pillar of how I read the day.
Where I actually am: small account, micros, single-digit weeks of disciplined data. Win rate and P&L are nothing to write home about yet — my edge right now is that I measure everything. Every trade gets logged and graded on process (a clean loss grades higher than a sloppy win), I keep a written playbook with entry/invalidation/target rules per setup, and I run a daily “1% better” assignment targeting one specific leak at a time. Current documented leaks: getting shaken out of trades I read correctly, and fiddling with stops that were placed right the first time. I record my sessions and review the tape weekly.
One thing that’s maybe unusual: I’ve built a fairly deep research system (with AI helping run the number-crunching) that backtests my ideas against 16 years of ES 1-minute data with placebo controls — so when I say “I tested that and it was noise,” I usually mean it literally. Happy to share methods and results in my journal.
Not here for signals, not selling anything, ever. Here because trading alone makes you weird and slow, and I’d rather learn from people ahead of me and compare notes with people beside me. Starting a journal thread shortly — critique welcome, especially the uncomfortable kind.
Hi everyone, I’m William. I’ve been interested in trading for a while, mainly focusing on forex, crypto, and market analysis. I joined to learn from other traders, improve my discipline, and share ideas along the way. Looking forward to being part of the community.
