I've seen a lot of crazy times in the markets. August 2015, Chinese economic fears. Post-Christmas 2018, huge volatility maybe because of thin holiday trading. Covid, March-April 2020. Watching ES go limit down one night. I thought that was the wildest I'd ever see but Tariff Days April 8-9, 2025 surpassed that. Those two days were damn near untradeable. 100 point moves in minutes.
Where does today, 11/5/26 rank? That was a most impressive selloff. ES was down almost 400 points at the close. Volatility like this is great for trading but you really have to be careful. And it's hard to sell when the market is down 150, 200 points. I sure wouldn't try to pick a bottom but at least wait for a pullback, but there weren't many today. It just kept going lower and lower. Nothing wrong with staying on the sideline when it's like that.
