No, it only seems to work in bracketing market conditions. Between the hours of 2-6am EST on the CL contract. Anytime after 6am and you are likely to get run over trying this. I have successfully simulated about 30 trades in the past two weeks applying this method. Each time penalizing one tick on the exit, and keeping a close eye on the time and sales tape to ensure that realistically there was enough liquidity to warrant my three contracts would have been filled. But as far as other market conditions besides 2-6 am EST CL, no it doesn't work, in fact it's almost like stepping out on the subway tracks with your money.
When I said bracketing I'm referring to a non trending range bound market. But yes I do set a time limit for this type of trade. Usually if it doesn't work out in under 5 minutes I will scratch or take my loss. I use sierra charts for all my trades. Ninjas simulator ends up giving me price anomalies if I don't clear the cache every day, so I stopped using it and decided to pay for data from sierra charts. I think you responded to my post about the price spike anomalies a few months ago.
