More than 100 million Americans either live near the brink of poverty or churn in and out of it, and nearly 70 percent of these Americans are women and children.
Imploding this beautiful country....been going on for decades. O well, none of the great Empires of History have lasted, the list is numerous. We are no exception.
Many of these women feel they are just a single incident—one broken bone, one broken-down car, one missed paycheck—away from the brink. And they’re not crazy to feel that way:
Women are nearly two-thirds of minimum-wage workers in the country.
More than 70 percent of low-wage workers get no paid sick days at all.
Forty percent of all households with children under the age of 18 include mothers who are either the sole or primary source of income.
The median earnings of full-time female workers are still just 77 percent of the median earnings of their male counterparts.
For this year’s Shriver Report, A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back from the Brink, we polled more than 3,000 adults to determine how Americans feel about the economy, gender, marriage, education, and the future. Here are some highlights from the poll respondents who are low-income women:
Seventy-five percent of them wish they had put a higher priority on their education and career, compared to 58 percent of the general population.
Seventy-three percent wish they had made better financial choices (as did 65 percent of all those we polled).
They were less likely to be married (37 percent, compared to 49 percent of all the men and women we polled) …
And more likely than men to regret marrying when they did (52 percent, compared to 33 percent of low-income men).
Nearly a third of those with children wished they had delayed having kids or had fewer of them.
SICK its so sad. Trillions of dollars is not going to help this. Add the 500k plus of troops coming with PTSD and TBI. We got a lost generation.
This is also the same Gucking country that pays Women 70% of a man's pay for the SAME work.
I am also a natural born citizen so I can call our beloved country anything I want...if the shoe fits where it.
Characteristics Associated with Cultic Groups - Revised
Janja Lalich, Ph.D. & Michael D. Langone, Ph.D.
Concerted efforts at influence and control lie at the core of cultic groups, programs, and relationships. Many members, former members, and supporters of cults are not fully aware of the extent to which members may have been manipulated, exploited, even abused. The following list of social-structural, social-psychological, and interpersonal behavioral patterns commonly found in cultic environments may be helpful in assessing a particular group or relationship.
Compare these patterns to the situation you were in (or in which you, a family member, or friend is currently involved). This list may help you determine if there is cause for concern. Bear in mind that this list is not meant to be a “cult scale” or a definitive checklist to determine if a specific group is a cult. This is not so much a diagnostic instrument as it is an analytical tool.
The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
The group is preoccupied with making money.
Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.
Visited this Church group this past weekend. Saw alot of this, see alot elsewhere also.
Yes, I have seen this a lot too. Know people who have been or are in cults, very sad. I read a book a long time ago called Snapping and I think it is out of print now. I think it was printed in the 70's. Anyway, back then they state that there were over 2K cults in the USA. When you get down to it, they are all around us at different degrees.
If you ever come across a group, you suspect is a cult, you can go to the The Ross Institute Internet Archives for the Study of Destructive Cults, Controversial Groups and Movements and check to see what is going on with that group.
I remember, I had a friend who invited me up the coast and wanted me to meet someone she thought was wonderful. She told me about him and they sounded like a love bombing cult. So I went to the website above and it was a riot, what this guy was doing. The United Nations would have him come once a year and give a speech before some big conference. Anyway, before he started talking, he said you should beware of anyone who tries to use negativity to influence you and then he proceeds to make a statement that in the future, there would be a nuclear bomb dropped on New York City. All the international members were taken a back, anyway, that was the last time they invited him to lecture.
It is interesting how cult members are groomed to invite new prospects into the group. The people in the cult are not open to being approached about being in a cult, so you have to let it run it's course. People are attracted to cults for different reasons: didn't get enough love, didn't have a father figure, don't have good self-esteem but also cults use other means to induct regular folk, who might not have any of these issues so, if you know of an organization that is giving a free long week conference beware.
On a personal note. I went to a Self realization fellowship temple and they had Christian church members
trying to 'recruit' or save us from damnation. The gall of doing this in plain sight and inside the Temple.
The SRF is into Yoga and meditation and Spirituality and takes the best of Hinduism,Buddhism and Christianity.
But brain washed nimrods got some much amyloid plaque in their brains and so full of amany oneside ISMS,they are just lost.
They also pollute the young, who are so naive.
Amyloid plaque is the main cause of Alzeheimers/dementia btw.
The Mind as we say is great when opened like a parachute, but for Gods sake when you got holes in the Parachute its not going to work.
Ya Hari Krishna
Jonestown.
Kerschs group
Heavens gate etc et al.
PS at one point she points out that Pi adds up to 666 but numerologically that adds up to 18 = 9.
Nine is the number of mystery or mastery.
Hopefully in our life, mysteries are unfolded and we become masters of our selves etc.
