A while back I had a Gann Swing Indicator made up, as I don’t know how to program. I haven't used it for some time.
Thanks to Dorschden PriceActionSwing Indicator, I pulled it out of hibernation. I forgot how nice simple price action alone can be.
The Gann Swing Chart is nice in defining swing highs and lows and with the use of PriceActionSwing Indicator and Fibonacci replacements, one only needs price and volume to define trends and support resistance area.
Cheers
Alex
Sorry I'm not sure, i did not write it. I know it sound silly. It would nice to have that function as a true Gann swing chart should. to adjust for the swings.
Also if possible merged with the priceactionswing indicator to have to Fibo levels etc..
Thanks Alex for your generous sharing of the Gann Swing indicator. Looks interesting. My plate is full and will let it sleep a little before exploring how to make good use of it.
Thanks!!!! (This is very well designed code)
No complaints and no problems with it at all.
A quick question....have you considered adding "Mode" and "Median" to the statistics in addition to "Average"? .........(or would that slow it down too much)
For example, using your indicator I manually loaded individual 'swings' into a spreadsheet. Using 6E (CME currency futures on a 3-tick range chart) data for May.
The PriceActionSwing indicator showed the 'average' swing to be 19-20 ticks both up & down....(my spreadsheet agree with your numbers)....
but the "MODE" (largest number of swings with the same value) was 13 ticks.
Slightly more than 50% of all swings were 13 ticks.
The large swings on trends shifted the 'average swing' higher than the size of swings that occurred most often.
The "Median" swing was 14...also below the average.
Mode & Median info could be helpful info to know for folks calculating intermediate support resistance zones, and having an automated way to do that could be helpful.
Once again...let me congratulate you on well designed piece of code. I especially appreciated how the code was structured and enclosed in "regions" for easy navigation and modification. (I have modified the code several times for different purposes)
As most of you know BigMike has asked me to Moderate Downloads & Indicators. We would like to put all finalized versions of indicators, templates, workspaces & educational material posted in threads in the download section, if still relevant and/or not beta. If it is beta then just leave it here if you are still actively working on it.
If there are final versions posted here would you mind posting them in downloads? Then add a link to this thread to bring everyone back here? Or let me know and I will post the files and a brief description and give ownership and edit privileges of these indicator(s) in Downloads to the initiator.
This will really help the efficiency of searching indicators. As well as notify folks when an updated version has been posted in a place where they can be tracked to minimize overlap and multiple postings.
We are in the process of completely revamping the downloads section as well as beta testing a Code Repository, BMCodex, being overseen by Sam028.
Please let me know if I can be of any help.
Thanks,
Andy

I just noticed the enclosed error message in the log, ie
Error on calling the 'OnBarUpdate' method for indicator 'PriceActionSwing' on bar 324: PriceActionSwing[barsAgo]: barsAgo must be greater/equal 0 but was -214
FYI: I have not changed the default settings of the indicator.
Appreciate any tips on fixing it or should I ignore it as it will not affect the indicator's performance. Thank you.
