The SessionPivots for NinjaTrader 7 came with a lot of different indicators, that is
- Daily Pivots
- Weekly Pivots
- Monthly Pivots
- Current Day OHL (with Fib retracements, noise bands, expansion bands and ADR projections)
- Current Week OHL (with Fib retracements, noise bands, expansion bands and AWR projections)
- Current Month OHL (with Fib retracements, noise bands, expansion bands and AMR projections)
Nearly everything has been converted to NinjaTrader 8, but it is spread between different indicators.
- amaDailyPivots (replaces anaPivotsDaily)
- amaWeeklyPivots (replaces anaPivotsWeekly)
- amaMonthlyPivots (replaces anaPivotsMonthly
- amaQuarterly/YearlyPivots
- amaFibsFromCurrentDay (replaces Current Day OHL with fib retracements)
- amaFibsFromCurrentWeek (replaces Current Week OHL with fib retracements)
- amaFibsFromCurrentMonth (replaces Current Month OHL with fib retracements)
- amaFibsFromCurrentQuarter/Year
- amaRangeProjectionsDaily (replaces daily noise bands, expansion bands and ADR projections)
- amaRangeProjectionsWeekly (replaces weekly noise bands, expansion bands and ADR projections)
- amaRangeProjectionsMonthly (replaces monthly noise bands, expansion bands and ADR projections)
What you are possibly looking for is amaFibsFromCurrentDay, see below. The design is a little different, as it draws horizontal lines that adjust to include the last bar shown on the chart. All fib retracements are then drawn back to the start of the current trading day.
This means that the indicator should not be used to identify support a posteriori prior to the daily high or low, as those lines were not in place when the bars to the left of the daily high or low printed, but you may use them for the section of the chart that follows the current day's high and low. Actually, a regression channel works similar, as the lines are redrawn with every new bar, so you are not supposed to use them for eyeballing prior zones of support and resistance.
The shaded area shows the full session gap which built over the weekend. The gap was then closed prior to the regular open.
Some of these indicators are available in the download section of the forum, others can be found on our website.
Ahhh I understand. I didn't see amaFibsFromCurrentDay- is it on your web site?
So if the levels update with new Highs/Lows back to the start of the session then I'd have to use the Fib tool if, for example, I would want to do research on where the levels were on previous Highs and Lows to the left of, what turned out to be the "real" High of Day?
I have an issue - question. I have some of your ama indicators on my chart, the problem is that, for example, the VWAP is on the Z-Order behind all other chart objects. I would like to see the VWAP above the other chart objects, so I use the "shift and mouse roll" combination to adjust it. But after a restart or even an F5 use, everything is like before.
How or what can I do or change to see all your ama indicators above the other chart objects?
I have set the ZOrder for some of the indicators programmatically to plot behind the bars. This is because these indicators come with shaded areas. Otherwise the shading would cover the price bars and hide them.
Following official NinjaTrader recommendations, I have set the ZOrder in State.Historical(). Therefore it overrides all settings which may have been saved in a chart template or workspace. I guess that setting the ZOrder in State.SetDefaults() would have a better option. I will likely update the indicators and shift the line that sets the ZOrder from State.Historical() to State.SetDefaults().
In case that you are impatient, you can do this yourself. Remove the line "this.Zorder = -1;" or "SetZOrder(-1);" from the section "State == State.Historical" and add a new line "SetZOrder(-1);" in the end of the section "State == State.SetDefaults".
The problem here is that whenever I update an indicator to a new version, the forum software renames the download file to the old version. When you download the indicator now, you will receive an install file ama_Current_Day_VWAP_v20.zip which contains the indicator amaCurrentDayVWAP version 2.5.
This creates a lot of confusion, as all the download files show a false version after I have updated them.
I am doing a few hundred indicator updates per year on my website, and I think it is best practice that the downloaded files show the version number - so that everyone knows what is inside. Also I am not willing to remove the version number from the files just to be able to post them here.
The problem with the version number explains that I am very reluctant to make any indicator updates in this forum, as it will confuse everybody, if all install files of ama-indicators are showing outdated version numbers in contradiction with what is inside.
I know that this is an old problem of the forum software, which has never been fixed. @Big Mike, I would need your help with this issue to be able to continue to update indicators. Is there any way to update the version number of the download file?
