Hi all Great site and forum, i have been lurking for close to a week now thought it about time to say hi.
I have been trading on and off for around 2 years now i have made the big mistake and lost a reasonable amount to boot.
I have got my head straight and come to realise I wont be a millionaire in my first 6 trades......
I now know that it is consistent winds that i want and to preserve my trading bank.
a big thanks for everything i have already read and a thanks in advance for everything i will read.
I use a combination of charting from NT combined with trading via IB (TWS). I have found the combination to be quite stable and reliable but only use intra-day charts which go back a few days. There is a video on the NT website which describes how to plug the NT charting software (which is free) into IB so as to receive IB price feeds. I am not a techie but found it to be quite straightforward. I don't use many indicators but have downloaded a couple off the internet and they work fine too. I do not use automated trading either.
I hope this helps but if not perhaps you could elaborate further on what you are looking for.

Hi Mike and everyone else.
I'm a former pit trader who has struggled for years to make the switch to screen based trading. I've been in the commodity business since the late 70's, trading grain, oilseed, and interest rate markets. Within weeks at arriving at my first job in the grain business, the Soviet Union invaded Afganistan, putting the US wheat and feedgrain industries into a depression that lasted for years. In the mid 80's I decided to try to make it as a "local" pit trader at one of Chicago's exchanges, and spent 16 very interesting and fun years making my living trading strictly for my own account. In 2002, as trade was beginning to migrate in a big way to the screen, I did the same, hoping to get ahead of the curve. With the exception of a year or two at the beginning, I've never enjoyed the success on the screen that I had in the pits.
I think I have a great deal to offer this forum in the areas of trading psychology, business development, money management, and the perspective of having been involved in many different market situations. What I hope to gain is help with programming and systems development.

I am looking forward to reading your quips, quotes and analogies.

Joined several days back but finally getting a look around. I'm a futures trader who uses TradeStation and EasyLanguage a lot. Looking forward to learning and passing on what I know.
I joined about a year ago but never confirmed my email address. I have been working in technical customer service positions for a while now while attending school full time. I paper traded for 6 months and went live a few months ago, Ive been trading the 6E and have been able to keep my account balance at a good level but I am only able to make up my losses. I look forward to learning more!
Thank you very much for all your work with this forum. I have been using NT for about 4 years, and had heard from many friends and associates about this forum. Moving at my usual pace, I eventually got here. I saw the note reminding me I had been a member for awhile and had not posted, so now here is my joiner.
I made my first commodities trade in 1975. I first started trading with a computer for charting in 1990, starting day trading and specializing in the S&P's. 2008 was my best year ever in the EMinis. I switched to daytrading the Euro futures late in 2009, as the changes in volatility and daily range have greatly favored the opportunities in the Euro vs the Eminis. Never looking back, I believe we are most fortunate to have such a great daytrading vehicle as the Euro futures, and the current accessibility of internet based trading.
NT is a very convenient and flexible application to trade actively. And developers and facilitators featured here certainly contribute to making it a great boon for us all.

Welcome aboard Jake. What is your favorite setup in trading the Euro? Breakout? Crossover? O/S, O/B? Just curious about your style. Thanks
