Thanks for your response. Are you referring specifically to the 3rd party addon, or NT in its ability to chart ASX stocks?
In the absence of a 3rd party addon, and assuming you do not make unsupported changes to NT (eg instrument.txt lists) adding ASX stocks is limited to importing stock codes via the import stock symbol list utility. The utility doesn't map data/broker feed codes.
Also, there is not a built in session template which includes the trading times for the ASX stocks.
Thirdly, the ASX shares codes that are also traded on the US exchanges, so unless an ASX stock is identified by a suffix (eg BHP becomes BHP.ASX), the database cannot differentiate between the two identical codes.
Due to points mentioned above, this is why I raised the question regarding NT8 including ASX stocks (even if limited to the top 200) as part of its database at time of installation in the same way that futures contracts, FX crosses and US stocks are included.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I think the NT team may be pleasantly surprised on the real usage statistics of Account Group functionality, defined as ability to simultaneously execute and manage trades on multiple accounts, regardless of IB F&F or some other brokerage. Separately managed accounts have been on a rise since the financial crisis with more money managers avoiding full custody of client accounts. Not going fullout on this feature as a developer, is lets say, confusing.
I am glad there is some improvement in this regard.
I think you said that custom Chart Styles will be supported under NT8. Many Chart Styles have been created for NT7 to date.
My question is under NT8 will the coder be able to add additional bar information. A private Object or Class for example to pass along with each bar that is added. Ultimately, will the coder be able to provide something other than the OCHLV data for each bar?
Maybe an example for another piece of information might be NEWS or something like that to go with the bar?
Up to a point. NT can place trades and edit orders on an individual account basis. However, profiles created in TWS cannot be traded via NT.
Having said this, if you place a trade to a profile in TWS, it will display via chart trader in NT when the master account for IB is selected. From here, changes to day only order prices can be made, including cancelling the order(s).
Hi, Ray, would be possible to add two tools on charting?
1. scale tools: when I use P&F or volume Ladder chart, the scale is always a problem
2. can you add horizontal ray? (this is not current F3 or F6), so when we draw a ray line starting form a point on chart and don't need to move the mouse up and down to make it horizontal.
I've read that NT8 will allow access to historical data in indicator code. Will it also be able to access data in a custom bar type? I'd like to be able to query "What was total volume for the last N days" in my custom bar type code. Currently I have to go to the file system to figure it out.
Thanks.
