One of the best traders out of my group of traders that I belong to was a construction guy. Very good trader, pulls 5 points a day out of the market typically with 10 contracts on CL, ES, TF, or FDAX
Took him 4 years though. haha.. Good luck and wish you the best.
Just found this useful forum, and inmediately suscribed!
I'm trading stocks for few years, before unconsistently and since 1 year doing much better with a simple S-R method.
Now really excited about futures (mainly ES) and scalping, learning and getting ready for the big step ahead!
Thanks for all the really great posts around here!
I was a member of another forum which shall remain nameless and was disappointed by my reception there. I was formerly a fully licensed investment advisor (still retain my 7 and 66) and am now looking beyond equities to something new and challenging. I am a former Marine and lifetime adrenalin junkie. I've owned my own biz before, worked hard and made over $150K a year working 18hr days. Now I want to do the same working 4-5hrs a day and feel the emini (for me) is the way to go about it.
I have a close friend who is a fulltime forex trader making, according to him, $800+ a day. I have no frame of reference but know (as he was a client of my long term investment planning biz) he has $400K to work with on a daily basis. Significantly more than I have to work with, but he's at least a decade and a half ahead of me, so I've got some time.
This experiment of mine into the ES is to learn objectively (see my trading journal: Johnny's Journal) with constructive criticism and over the period of several years, add to my account until the point at which it can easily fund my wife and I's lifestyle. As with any experiment, I have set goals for myself on a yearly basis. This year, for 2011, my goal is to gain 240 points from the ES. Broken down, that is a gain of 1 point per day. For 2012, that goal will be almost doubled, to 420 points, which is just 1.75 points per day. Additionally, every few months following successful trading habits, an increase of 1 contract will be applied to my trading with the eventual goal of trading 10+ contracts per trade within 3 years or so.
I' m an old woman investor who had the buy and hold philosophy up to the 2007/2008 crises.
So I'm trying to get rid of that philosophy but am loosing money in mini index futures for lack of patience and bad setups.
So I decided to study Trend Following techniques to see if I may improve my tradings in futures and also in stocks and perhaps I get enought courage to go to options markets as well.
I have a lot of theory and am unable to utilize it in my benefit!

Hello to everyone.
My name is Alfredo, I am Italian and I am new to the Bigmiketrading.
I started to interest in trading almost 3 yeras ago; but I started with real money just 1 year ago. So I am a really beginner, and student too.
I trade in options(Index, Equity, ETF) and Futures in commodity.
I try to use intermarket analysis, as well indicators/oscillators/price/volume, and seasonality (as well for several underlyings).
I have not sitill my proper style of trading, and I am still learning trade by trade, day by day yet. Much more, I am a tren follower, even if for just some days! :-) The way is long.
I hope to find new idea, as well as to help other people in this very great ocean.
I like to share any ideas: for example, in these last months I have been trading a lot on weekly options, with theta-positive trading (vertical credits and iron condors).
I like American Football (I played as OT #78), basketball (I played as Pivot), swimming and treking; as well as I like to read a lot.
Open to each help/request or criticize, I wish a great day to all memebers and readers,
Seeya Alfredo
Been trading the ES for one year with no luck, blown out my account a couple of times. Plan on trying other markets that aren't ate up w/ HFT systems. Basically trying to start out from scratch...
I'm an ex jarhead as well johnny, goodluck w/ the ES, it chewed me up and spit me out!
