Further speed enhancements tonight. Now all public forums are delivering image attachments via the CDN. This means non-Elite forums (can't do Elite for privacy reasons).
What this means is that the images are going to be served from the CDN network, which means no matter your location there should be a CDN node much closer to you than futures.io (formerly BMT)'s own server. Since most threads on our forum are image attachment intensive, this should really drastically speed up the loading time for most of you.
With this change, I had to change the default "Attachment Thumbnail" viewer from the standard vBulletin lightbox to the Highslide gallery viewer. The highslide viewer was already in use on the site for inline images within the post, but was not being used for traditional attachments. Unfortunately, vBulletin's lightbox could not be made compatible with the CDN. The net result is no loss of functionality, just a slight cosmetic change from what you are used to.
As a reminder, if you wish to view an attachment image full-size (bypassing highslide), you'll need to right-click on the image and "Open link in new tab". This will give you a normal full-size window of the image without viewing it through highslide. This is useful for some advanced users who want to save the image or mark it up further.
This is a major change. Please report any problems.
There is currently a problem with using the Preview feature prior to making your post, as reported by . If you use the preview button and you are attaching files/images, make sure those show up in the preview before pressing submit. If they do not show up, just hit preview again, and maybe even again, until they do show up.
This is an issue with our cluster and the way files are replicated (or in this case, /tmp files not replicated), I'll try to work out a solution.
If you don't use the preview button, there is nothing to worry about.
I've made some changes on the home page. To the right of the chatbox, the new thread and new post notification box has been cleaned up a bit.
Ellipsis added for longer thread names, and username changed from left of the thread title to right of thread title. This makes it flow better, and also match more closely the Top 20 stat block on the bottom of home page.
One right-facing triangle icon means New Post. A double icon means New Thread.
Just wanted to say, to my faithful readers , the site has been slow the last several days and I know it --- and I'm not happy about it --- and I am working on solving it.
A few more days and we should be good... and yes, I am a bit obsessive with performance stuff
Some of you may have noticed we added a new section called Team Trading, and two new subsections for Language and Instrument Type, and then several new subforums under each of those.
You may not know this, but 50% of the members on nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) are from outside the United States. This means a large number of them do not speak English as their native language, though most can read and write English pretty …
When I started nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) in June 2009 a group of my friends followed. We all traders Futures, so the site quickly became populated with a lot of Futures discussions. That lead to more Futures discussions, and so forth.
