The recent changes will be carried forward to the new framework as well -- it's not vBulletin or IPS specific, but rather nginx side of things. So this knowledge will remain for the new framework and is not wasted time on just vBulletin.
Lot of work on the webinar module, took a lot of time. Haven't done much recently unfortunately, the next major step is the theme which I am having some trouble finding the right designer.
Rogue process was taking over the RTMP media server IP, preventing the oldest Flash based webinars from loading correctly. Solved now. It was a result of a nginx upgrade, which inadvertently enabled listening to the wrong IP address without my knowledge, killing the RTMP process.
Thanks for the two members who contacted me letting me know.
Still working on homepage performance. Developer shaved off 1.5 seconds from the query so far, I was able to fix a few other things saving another second. We still have 2 seconds of room to work with on this one query, so will keep trying to improve it. Once we get it structured correctly, it should drop to practically zero.
In the meantime, I've asked him just to cache the query in memcached or xcache, hopefully I get working code back on that soon.
I cleaned up a few other old things that should help with general performance of the entire site, by lightening the load on the database. This was primarily in old disabled/unused plugins that weren't fully dropped from the database yet, but are now. As usual, please report any problems.
Hopefully will have homepage work done in an hour or so.
And just fixed a bug, thanks to my dev for reporting it to me -- which was causing the contact us page for non-logged in users to be cached incorrectly. This has been fixed now.
Homepage qa board query has been replaced and optimized, and cached. Saved over 2 seconds.
The cache is for an hour, so this means if a post is marked as an answer in a question thread, it won't be reflected on the homepage for up to an hour.
Please give me your feedback on the homepage speed now, and report any problems.
