I just started trading a few weeks ago, and through searching google I found this site. I am a total noob, and am hungry to learn as much as possible here, so I can eventually start contributing and helping others.
Respectfully,

Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Hello everyone my name is Gordon, as I stand here it feels a bit like introducing myself at a AA meeting but here I am. I am an intermediate level trader struggling to find my way. Yes I blew out a couple accounts and after wondering around I found myself here. There was a download that was only available here as an Elite member so I joined the forum and with no regrets. It seems to be a great place and look forward to a new place to hang out.
Thought I would get my feet wet on this forum by making my first post here. I am very excited to learn from everyone and to get back into some active trading.
I actually had some success in futures before during the late 90's with Ken Roberts system - lol! Anybody remember him? I made around $12,000 starting with $2000 in a little under a year. Then I blew all my gains on a girl and never got back into the market again, haha! (In case you're wondering, that relationship did not work out and totally not worth it.)
I figured that if I did it once I should be able to do it again. However, I feel like the markets today are a whole new breed of animal compared to when I last traded. It is even a little intimidating and I feel fortunate to have found this forum.
I hope I can can not only learn and trade successfully, but that I can pass on my own gained wisdom to future members someday.
This is my first time joining a trading forum. I feel like I am standing up at an AA meeting and finally admitting that I am a trader. I can probably count the number of times I've said that out loud on my hand, and very softly at that. Not that there is anything wrong with being a trader -- it's more like I finally realized what I want to be when I grow up and I'm afraid to say it too loudly until I am already THERE. Of course, you only get there by putting one foot in front of the other so this is my attempt at taking another step in the right direction.
Your note encouraging me to participate got me thinking - of course, why not?
I first started trading cocoa in my mid-early 20's (almost 37 years ago) using WSJ. Then life moved on and I got involved in marriage, career, etc. Picked it up again about 13 years ago and the sentence of your welcome post says it all - up and down. I have experienced the phenomenon of "letting your losses run and cutting your profits short". I think Brett Steenbarger calls it "trading trauma".
I have also been fascinated by technical analysis so much that I also kept reinventing the wheel every time it worked - making it better, trying to catch very twist and turn, up and down.
Actually feels good to admit all this as I am turning all that around slowly and intentionally.
So thank you for the space to put this down in writing.
And I will apply those ideas you have written in your welcome post.
Thanks for providing the forum. I am not a trader, but am helping a trader program an indicator and strategy within Ninja. It has been pretty frustrating, but I have gotten most help from these forums. I look forward to sharing what I learn.
Former local from the grain pits in Chicago - moving to screens (unfortunately). Primarily deal in futures and options with an emphasis on risk management.
Great forum here Mike - looks like you really got something going.
Hi Everyone,
this is my 1st time joining a forum for traders.
Looks pretty cool for sharing ideas.
I hope to make some friends and learn alot from other traders.
I also hope to be able to contribute somewhat, however my trading knowledge is not great.
Thank you Big Mike for providing this forum!!!!
Mike,
Like you I started a couple of years ago, but took a different route. Being an engineer I went the technical analysis route. I wasn't having bad results, just the results weren't what I wanted. I was using spreadsheets to do the analysis and using the usual suspects, MACD, parabolic SAR. etc.. At the same time I was creating a personal family page. I decided about a year ago to combine the two and improve my trading. I am still working on my website; but my trading results have improved. I use the website to actually view the reliability of the indicators instead of guessing which one to use for each stock. This is not a advertisement for my own website, and I'm not going to even list the name. I was looking for some information on demand index and found your website. This is the first forum I've signed up for, I like the format so far. Thanks for all the hard work.
